2026 roster needs

hey if Mullins is back…

Silas, Solo, Braylon are starters in a 3 guard offiense.

Ross is probably 6th man like Haas unless he busts out as a 3 level scorer the he gets the start.

Stewart is also likely a bench rotation guy as he is now behind Ross and not a 4.

Priorities are 4s and 5s as Landrew could start at the 3 meaning we need a 5 more than a 4 given 3 guards - Braylon was definitely more SG than SF for us.

Work needed: Solo and defense - his constant sub outs/ins show how Ross was a defender many times over Solo. If Solo can move laterally better and not foul he gets a bump.

Hopefully we get Braylon back and get a solid C or 2.

Question remains on guys like Furphy, Jacob Ross, Uros: of them Furphy has the most upside but his injury early last year prevented him from showing much in practices.

If Solo and Mullins are both back which I think they will be they will be starting at the 2 and 3.

You're crazy if you think we're upgrading over Solo and Mullins. That will probably be the best starting combo in the country at those positions.

I think there’s a lot of underrating the injuries and circumstances behind their shooting numbers.

One more year of continued development and hopefully healthy bodies will give us one of the best wing duos in the country, to ADD to Demary, Ross and Landrew. I’d be excited as heck to start Ball and Mullins again.

Give me a good Center and another big Forward and I think we have another excellent team.

Ball and Mullins are both better than they were last year, I believe that.

Yes, no, no.
That’s the three guard lineup. People have forgotten how good Ball was last year when his wrist wasn’t hurt. He’s never losing his starting spot to Ross. Don’t over complicate this Stew was always going to be a “bench rotation guy” but as the primary backup 4. Like he was this year and last year…and I’m really hoping he returns. I don’t wanna have to get two 4s and two 5s.

Either you’re going to be wrong or not get your wish I assume.

Some of these kids actually believe in their basketball career and all.

That’s the question. I’m honestly not too sure. We have a great culture with that class so maybe? But also with Hurley’s loyalty I’m not sure if he would do that to him either.
I doubt he does. But Hurley learned how to stagger the Mullins/Solo/Ross minutes effectively this year so I'm not worried. All 3 will have huge roles if they're here next year

.-.
Solo's BPM is the worst of every player that saw regular minutes. I know he was hurt, but he can't pass, doesn't rebound well and is the worst defender we have by a huge margin. Ross/Landrew + Mullins is >>>> Solo + Mullins. So no, not the best duo at those positions, even on our team.

We will find out what happens when it happens. I think there's a lot of uncertainty with our roster right now. I suspect Dan is struggling with his usual approach of rewarding loyalty and the reality of what his team needs. He all but said as much last week.
The solo hate on here is wild. Kid can’t play defense but he can score, he’s a half decent passer and rebounder and we’ve seen him play at an all Big East level before. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt here. Either way saying that Ross - who is good but on offense is a spot up shooter who makes as many boneheaded plays as solo - and a freshman who hasn’t played a minute of college ball are clearly superior options is goofy. For as many times as solo drove me nuts this year he also carried the team offensively for entire stretches that many seem to forget.

Freshmen are freshmen. We’ve been lucky to have a few wildly advanced ones contribute recently but there are just as many furphy’s hyped in the offseason as well (in terms of freshmen contributions, think the kid has a future here).

agree in the Solo hate…I mean he just needs to work on D and he’s a much more complete player.

But Landrew is a stud and has a motor. I think quite possibly he gets close to 20 min by season end. But we’ll see in practices.

It truly matters who we get in the portal for 4s if we do and they are premier the. we go 3 guards, that 4 and whatever 5 we get. Ross is first off the bench if the 4 or a guard needs a rest or has 2 fouls. Stewart is next then Landrew/Furphy/County. Obviously need another 5 to spell the first 5.

But we might not get a 4 anyway as 3 guard sets and a center means either a 3 or a 4 and we already are chock at the 3.

At this juncture, if the only confirmed team members are Ross and the freshmen, we need everything.

(No, I'm not being impatient.) 😝😜😜🤪

Solo seems to be very very undervalued in this forum. The dude gutted the entire season with a hurt wrist. He is awesome when healthy. He needs to improve the defense for sure. I would also like to see him attack the rim more. He tends to just fall in love with the 3 ball.

Silas Ball Mullins is an insanely good back court and with some good transfers in the front court they could be scary good.

Defense is literally half the game. Also he didn't have a single rebound in the final 4 or championship game.

Anyways I'm not on the Solo hate train. We need his scoring and I'm hopeful his shooting woes this season were all wrist related.

That said, it's been clear that he's a one trick pony. He doesn't fill up a stat sheet and he grades out as our weakest defender. Some of that is skill based and some of that is inattention. His anticipation is terrible (as evidenced by his inability to draw a charge) and he frequently gets caught sleeping. He reaches in quite a bit still -- both him and Silas spent long stretches of first halves on the bench with 2 fouls in too many games this season. There were multiple games this year where Solo would get targeted on defense, to the point where Danny was forced to bench him during crunch time.

I'm not entirely sure what that means other than we need a rim protector to clean up his defensive mistakes/lapses, and he needs to regain his sophomore year form to make a positive contribution on the court.

If Solo can get back to a decent 3PP and improve on his other levels of scoring he’ll be fine. His defense is what it is, can somewhat be masked by having a rim protecting menace at the 5.

Healthy Silas/Solo and sophomore Mullins sounds like a dangerous backcourt.

People really seem to be forgetting how much offense we’re losing even if it’s just AK & Reed gone. There is really no scenario Ball doesn’t start if everyone returns, and frankly I think he’s earned as much
