2026 Recruiting Thread

Why UConn is recruiting another running back. They are not UConn players until they sign a letter
pretty sure they gotta be keeping tabs on other prospects.... just makes sense that they would/should be.

i'm confused.
what does a "committed" post mean if you can continue talking to, & fielding offers from other schools and posting those offers on X?
does that not literally make a commitment worthless? i thought a commitment closes the communication door to other programs.

If i'm seeing it right, then commitments are only for the benefit of the player, not the school. If a player can de-commit from UConn as easily as changing his order in the drive-thru, then the only one actually on the hook is UConn, not the player. We're counting on him showing up next summer, and that affects our decisions on recruiting that position moving forward.

so, if the commitment means nothing, does that mean UConn just NEVER stops recruiting? that sounds frustrating and exhausting for the staff. NCAA please do something, this is getting out of hand.

Verbal commits don’t mean anything for either side.

Highlights

They’re coming @ ‘em…

5555% committed, what a load of shullbit. He meant best offers yet to come. Expect a tweet soon along the lines "Thank you UConn coaches...with that being said my recruitment is now open...".

Considering he posted receiving more offers after West Virginia...we got an open slot for someone who wants to be a standout WR at UConn...

Rather go to the transfer portal for WR- that along with RB and QB. You need to try and developed your own offensive and defensive linemen.

This is going to happen, and sadly, without being in a conference, this may happen more often. I am far from happy about this, as we all are.

One thing HCRE said is that there are only your recruits when they sign on the dotted line.

We shouldn't overreact to kids decommiting as it happens to all schools. And it's good to see that players UConn recruited are good enough to get interest from other schools. I looked at some other schools and here are their decommits so far this year: Rutgers 6, Alabama 4, Syracuse 4, Ohio St. 3, BC 2, Michigan 2, UConn 2.

Luke hatfield, OL from Battlefield HS in Virginia is decommitting and going to...Liberty RE: Closer to home.

Has this been confirmed/reported anywhere? Haven't seen anything outside this post.
