2026 Recruiting: Ratliff Twins

Nothing on UConn but figured I'd provide this update.

“I want to play for a coach with a winning mindset. A family-oriented program, you know, a team that just wants to win a championship and help me become a pro. Whether it’s one, two, three years, somewhere I can just develop my game.”

The RuffRuff Alternate Access™:

Top-3 center Darius Ratliff recaps Alabama official; Opens up on Arkansas, Texas & USC

That clip reads like he is in search of UConn "magic"!

Not we what needed next year. As it stands we need a proven guy to backup Reibe and Stew. Idk if Stew is even going to be the starting PF next year but a Ratliff wasn’t going to be that either.
The ideal center to backup Reibe is going to be a Reed/Sanogo type to provide contrast -- not another guy who can play on the wing.

So if a center plays PF minutes to spell Stewart next season I am going to bet it is Reibe. Which does function as a way to make the backup center position look more attractive (more than 40 minutes per game available between the two centers).

Disagree for several reasons. First off, Reibe is going to be a force inside and out so he can be paired with any type of big.

Second, We haven’t had the inside/outside duo you’re referring to until this year. The last three seasons our starting and backup centers have all been paint dominant on O. they were more complimentary on the defensive end. Which leads me to my last point…

Third, While Reibe can play as a stretch 5 on offense he’s not guarding opposing PFs on D he’s too slow, and As I said, I want this transfer to compete with Stew for starting PF

We will have to agree to disagree then -- as often is the case. Respect your opinions though. I can't imagine the portal is going to have many "can consistently hit 3's, defend 2-5, play backup center 20 minutes a game, and willing to be a reserve" guys.

If Stewart can't handle the job, they will import someone from Europe and bring in a backup center.
