2025 WNBA Regular Season

I'm not sure Angel has ever been in a program in which she's had a strong coach and support system to help understand and internalize the type of culture necessary I think to be successful, be a good teammate, and representative for the W.

While it's easy to do it's instructive to compare Angel with Paige, Boston, or Lexi Hall who all came out of programs in which there was an emphasis on these important elements of culture and character
Could be very possible. With respect to the examples provided for comparison, I think they all would have had that mentality regardless of the programs they played for. I don't have anything to base it on but gut feeling that they've been that way from a young age.

I don’t even care for Mulkey but Angel has been the way she has ever since HS. Brenda tried dealing with her, Mulkey even disciplined her multiple times. She should know better.. The natty and fame certainly made things significantly worse…

As far as basketball goes, I don’t think she would have a issue taking a backseat and being a third option on a team with better/more efficient players personally but Angel has always been about Angel so I see where many teams may be reluctant to deal with her or potential locker room issues

Reese is a lot of things but she's never been a selfish player on the court. I don't think she'd have any problem being a 3rd or 4th option offensively if it means her team is winning. It's clear there are chemistry issues in Chicago right now, but you add her to any team and she immediately makes them better. The intangibles she brings to the table (motor, rebounding, aggressive defense, toughness) aren't flashy but they're incredible important. She also has improved significantly from year 1 to year 2 and has a high ceiling if she can develop a mid range or perimeter shot. She'll be one of the more coveted players this offseason if she's on the trading block.
She’s never been selfish when she’s the star. Drama in the locker room and off the court doesn’t usually go hand-in-hand with the sort of player perfectly content to go from face of the team to 4th option energy bunny. Maybe she will be an exception, but I doubt it.

I’m not saying no one will want her. Someone definitely will. Orgs always believe they can fix talented players. “It’ll be different with our culture/veteran leadership/coaching style/magic beans!” I am saying they may come to regret the price.

Reese hired a PR firm when she entered the league. Perhaps even earlier. She is all about promoting herself. Her agenda in that respect exceeds her time in basketball. She mentioned that while still in college. She is actually better at promotion than she is at basketball. But then basketball is not her first priority.

the sun are a mess. Next season gonna be interesting. Only positives from that team is Lacan and Rivers
And Morrow.

Tina Charles and Marina Mabrey have been solid, but they'll probably be gone next year. And with the whole ownership and location issue up in the air, I don't see the Sun as an attractive landing spot for the many UFAs who will be available.

Richard Cohen of Her Hoops Stats now sets his end-of-the-year review/looking forward to next year prognostications on the Dallas Wings. Among other things, he points out and/or ponders:
  • "Dallas still hold their own 2026 first-round pick. Thanks to being dreadful last year as well as this year, and the WNBA's two-year lottery system, they've already locked in the best odds of the No. 1 pick in the lottery draw whenever it may take place."
  • "They've already leaned young, which is a positive, because players with the potential to improve are exactly what you want in a rebuild....They're doing the right things. They're just still a long way away from the final destination."
  • On GM and Coach. Miller will stay and Koclanes -- given his track record with Miller -- will probably stay, too. However,
"...given the failure to build a competent defense, it also wouldn't be a huge surprise to see them move on and try someone else (or for Miller to come down from the executive offices and take over himself)."

There's not 1 Gm that would turn her way sorry , its this narrative from people who have not 1 idea of the person she is that keeps her paid.

Phee missing her 11th game tonight , is she throwing in the MVP towel or secure that the voters will still choose her due to the Wilson Fatigue ?

A'ja is leading in the metrics now. I don't understand the Wilson fatigue narrative but I suppose that is a factor. Phee doesn't have much of an argument anymore besides being the best player on the best team.

However the MVP voting goes, I would be greatly surprised if it was a greater priority for Phee than having the Lynx win the championship.

I think the championship is more important to her.

So you're basically saying the MVP award is more important to A'ja than another title? Of course the championship is more important to both... neither could have gotten to where they are in basketball riding a desire to win individual awards.

The saga continues with Bayou Barbie. Outsized talent with a larger ego
Just a slight correction: instead of “outsized” I’d say “lopsided” talent. Her talents are impressive, but on offense she is pretty much restricted to scoring from the low post. Her rebounding is awesome and her defense is ok. These aren’t superstar credentials, but viewed in isolation they can be impressive.

With all due respect, neither post cited was meant to disparage Aja's priorities.

Neither Geew1992 or Basingstroke said anything whatsoever about Wilson’s priorities, which you infer. Both only discussed Pheesa’s priorities. There is enough conflict in the world without manufacturing more of it that doesn’t exist.

And yet, my friends, without clarifying, that's how I took the posts, and very likely so would others... it's naive to think otherwise.

I don't doubt your intent, Basingstoke but, because of the real conflict going on all around us, as noted by oldude,, we need to make ourselves perfectly clear.

That’s a stretch at best, and more likely an unnecessary aspersion on Wilson. I absolutely understood both posts as clearly positive statements about Pheesa’s priorities, without some hidden meaning tucked away. Sometimes, people say exactly what they mean.

Great point. Like many "celebrities" her primary focus has, and continues to be, her brand. Oy. Brand. A ubiquitous de-evolution in society. I much prefer baller - Paige, AT, Wilson . . . .. .

I agree AND, I think this assumption is the only way for meaningful communication to take place!

That is the operative term and a change is necessary, not a surprise but an expectation. Dallas fans will be short changed if the videomeister returns as coach and, frankly, I am not certain Miller is the answer, he imposed the LA video king on the team.

I'm with you on that last statement, oldude. Would that it was always the case!
