2025 WNBA Regular Season

Okay; so Washington made a trade… and it didn’t involve Aaliyah Edwards. It seems like a decision was made to focus on the future. That wasn’t a win now trade.

To clarify, you mean this is a gut feeling on your end with respect to Sykes wanting out? Personally, I see it differently where Seattle is looking to get more production than what they're getting from Clark.

I’d read that Sykes wanted out, too, although it wasn’t Washington local media and there were no attributions. I found it odd, as she really is (was) a team leader and is hugely popular here. But it happened, so maybe there was some substance to it.

The Mystics were already the youngest team in the league, and they’ll be even younger next year.
 
Interesting trade. I'm wondering if the Storm expect that Stkes will give them more scoring which has been an ongoing issue

I just happened to see the trade. Definitely interesting. I was thinking that Skyes was happy and building something with the Mystics and that young core. This trade is going to be interesting for both teams with 15-17 games left.

In theory, Sykes pairs nicely with SD and Gabby. Especially on the defensive side. Offensively her game seems to overlap with both of them, slasher/driver preferred but can shoot the 3.

A little off topic slightly, but Ezi's performance this season has been disappointing for Seattle. I thought she'd perform a lot better. Malonga has come a long way and has been performing well with more playing time.

Yep, BUT, her age and performance in limited minutes with the Fever certainly did anticipate her lackluster performance with similar minutes in Phoenix. I believe her shooting percentage and efficiency deteriorated after reuniting with AT. At her age I'm not certain that should have been a surprise to anyone

Defensively I think the Storm are very pleased with how Ezi has performed.

Offensively like everyone else on the team I think there's lots of room for improvement. In their last game she missed two bunnies and often fails to finish at the rim.

I'm wondering which coach on the staff is responsible for the offense. With their talent and experience I think they should be more consistent offensively.

I'm looking at the million dollar coach.

The whole 2 Rookies voted to the ASG ahead of her while she was selected as a replacement only really stung. To be fair she has led this team the entire year , the rookies dont get the looks they get without sykes so i dont blame her.

I bet it's more of DC deciding to go all in on their future. With all vets being free agents next year, there was no guarantee they would keep Sykes, so they lose her in advance (and likely giving up on a playoff run) while getting a first round pick in return, fully embracing the youth rebuild. Sending Sykes to a Seattle team that could make a real run in the playoffs is also a nice landing spot.

Reminder, there is actually a big draft difference between making and not making playoffs next year due to Toronto and Portland joining the league. If you're the last team in the playoffs, you pick 8th. If you're the first team out, you're in the lottery, and have a chance at going anywhere from 1-5. And next year's likely top 5 (Betts, Miles, Fudd, Flau'Jae, Latson) is pretty stacked.
 
New York, without Stewie but with Emma, beat Dallas by 9. Fans included Chris Dailey, Ben Stiller, Jason Sudekis, and John Turturro. Paige had 21/8/4/1 on 8-15 shooting. She's 7th in the league in scoring. At one point, the NY announcer said "Paige Bueckers is picking apart the Liberty defense."

Don't forget Awa Fam (Spain) is eligible. She could be the next draft class "Malonga" and go #1 overall if she declares. Honestly this is a stacked class beyond those picks and I expect great choices will still be available in the second round.

New York had some VIPs at the game. It was great watching Coach Dailey out there chopping it up with Paige. Ben Stiller was like Da Man! He was taking pictures with the whole team and Ellie. Pretty awesome crowd.

I am shocked because she was talking about being a mentor to the rookies, how happy she was being in Washington, and how they had a solid core, on paper, for the future. This trade was a shocker, for me.

Storm can hit threes, once the game is out of sight?

4 of the 5 teams that played tonight protected the home court.

The one road team to win ...without Pheesa....

Carrington certainly showed why Reeve wanted her.
