2025 WCBB Coaches Hot Seat edition (merged)

Wow those are some deep cuts for the Arkansas opening. I've heard of 0 of them

Tulsa, Oral Roberts, Ala A&M, ArkSt -- pretty local (thank you Google!)

I think many of the schools with openings have eyes on non-P4 school coaches who have teams in the NCAAT so they will wait until those teams are eliminated before announcing. Molly Miller from Grand Canyon will most certainly be getting a P4 gig after her team has been eliminated. Auburn, Arkansas and ASU should all be making huge presentations to her. Frankly, I hope she chooses ASU as i think competing in the Big 12 is significantly easier than the SEC, she already has an Arizona base of operation and this would make @azfan extremely happy.

I thought the GCU coach had her pick of Mizzou, Ark, ASU?

MO is filled.
She's not listed here for Ark.
ASU?

Or do we say,
Molly, you in danger girl
[of not getting a job this cycle.]
As i suspected before, Molly would take the ASU job 1st. Too many pros to doing so.

All quiet on the coaching front.

Probably waiting for teams to get eliminated, freeing up their coaches to make announcements, and getting the pelota moving. Or I guess baloncesto.

If I were a coach in the SEC, this would not scare me.

She's done a nice job in 3 years at ORU. But going from 2nd best in the Summit to SEC coaching? I need her agent.
Yeah, I was surprised as well. She was a HC at D2 school before Oral Roberts, I didn't see what her record was there.

Ngl, I was like, who!?

Very underwhelming hire based on the names floated. However she is a very good coach that has progressed through the various levels of basketball. She did a great job turning around Oral Roberts.

It’s going to be interesting to see how she handles the giant recruiting step to the SEC. She is going to need some assistants with P5 recruiting experience. Even then the other SEC coaches are going to be constantly reminding potential players of her lack of P5 coaching experience. I’m more surprised they paid the giant buyout to Coach Neighbors for such an unknown commodity.

Much speculated.

I know Turner Thorne did well there, but I don't consider ASU a good job. We'll see if she can turn it around.

I guess Texas A&M is gonna stay put with Joni Taylor for a fourth season. I forgot that A.D. Trev Alberts (who did not hire her) is pretty cheap.

She's had a somewhat charmed career. Slid right into the Georgia job after Andy Landers retired, then did the same at A&M when Gary Blair called it quits. I got the impression she was seen as something of a savior by A&M, but I was confused what they saw from her Georgia results that made them think that. I do like the person she seems to be, though.

It’s the Big 12 without Texas or Oklahoma, she can thrive there with ASU. Naylor is a shell of its former self with Collen at the helm and really only TCU to maybe worry about.

Why would they do that? They already blew it last time, forced out their all time winningest coach and replaced him with a high school coach. I don't think they can afford to mess up that badly again.

Just repeating what one of the insiders posted on twitter.

Okay. Has history playing at BYU and on coaching staff w/ both mens and womens teams. Maybe they think he's an up and coming gem.

Hope this is ok . . .

Molly Miller just named ASU women's coach.

Miller was also courted by two SEC programs located closer to home for Miller, Arkansas and Missouri, but Rossini beat them out. Contract details have not been disclosed yet, but Miller was reportedly enticed by the fact that Arizona State had become a dynasty under Charli Turner Thorne, Adair's predecessor, offering a clear path to sustained success in Tempe.

Additionally, sources indicated that Miller's extended family recently moved to the Valley in order to be closer to her and her children, which lessened the appeal of moving home for a job in the SEC.

Miller has quickly become one of the hottest coaches in women's basketball, and Arizona State hit a home run with this hire. Being that it is the first coaching hire of Rossini's tenure as athletics director, this move offers even more confidence in the new man leading Arizona State athletics.
