I can't wait to see where Sophie Glancey lands. I saw her listed on both LSU and Mizzou sites but I think Kim signed a forward. So if Sophie doesn't land at Mizzou I'm wondering where it will be.

Sophie completed her undergraduate degree in 3 years. As a grad transfer I'm wondering if she has two years of eligibility.

The notion that a university program should turn a profit is itself already a corruption of any role athletics might have as part of an educational mission. This is not an appropriate measuring stick.

In the boneyard everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Just make sure it gets the stamp of approval.

Doesn't UConn WBB?
Geno and CD earn up to 5 mil a year. I remember my cost accounting class indicated some organizations use discretion in allocating costs. So does our government. In fact there's an entire branch of accounting called governmental accounting or fund accounting that incorporates creativity in allocating costs.

So creative accounting might be able to stretch the limits of credulity with these salaries and indicate that wbb at Connecticut breaks even. But we all know that's not true.

LSU, SC, USC..... There isn't a single big time wbb program that comes close to breaking even. They all lose money bushels of money.

Amen. Absolutely. One wonders about the massive endowments at some institutions of higher learning. Your characterization is completely on point.

I'm aware. I worked for Deltek Systems in the '90s. If you are aware of computer based government accounting, you should what this company is. (Rhetorical.)
I'm swerving back to posting about portal entrants...we're down to the final few days...

But if athletics happened to turn a profit schools wouldn't feel the need to use funds that would better be designated to actual education to instead fund athletics.

There was a time when the concept of athletics making a profit might not be so difficult to comprehend. That was before a facilities race and incredibly increasing coach's salaries.

It is not only that no WBB programs make money, but virtually no athletic departments do - if any. I know some years ago Texas did, I think there were like 3 or 4 that were in a reasonable position. Out of all of them. Nowadays, I have no clue.

Well ... remember that players have until midnight Wed 4/23, however that means we will hear about entries for a few days after the 23rd. I'm not assuming anything until May 1, LOL.

I guess that I needed to define "few" when I posted about entering the portal. :)
FWIW my definition of "few" is more than two and less than seven days.
:)

Didn't she follow her coach to Santa Clara?

No yet. Pain took one player Ava Schmidt. So Glancey as is Sanaya Neverson who was Big Sky six player of the year is still in the transfer portal.

I think Mizzou still may have an interest in her and I also heard that Montana State would love to have her.

I'm really dying to know and still waiting to see who Laura Dinkins is going to bring on as assistant coaches.

Looks like she committed to Santa Clara yesterday:

I really liked her game a lot in high school. I know Maryland recruited her very hard. Duke fans will be thrilled if they sign her.

We ain't taking no juniors. If she was a freshman or sophomore it could work.

While she (Mwenentanda) wouldn't fill an immediate need for Duke, I'd rather see her at Duke than to have to face her (she's got upside). I'm glad that, for example, UVA spent most of their Alexis Ohanian money on Sa'Myah Smith instead. I don't really want to see her at NC State, Louisville (don't think they can afford her), or Notre Dame.

Kids coming off the bench are asking/getting money like that?
