I dont really believe women's basketball produces a "new face" or "generational talent" every year. She might become a great player, but if everyone is an icon no one really is.Chavez is supposed to be another Paige or Caitlin. If that comes to fruition. Bargain for OU.
Iriafen comes off the cap this year so they should have some money freed up. Oh wait, there is no cap in college sports. It's only a matter of how much $$$ you can come up with.
Ok, put Coquese on the "Hot Seat" thread for 2026....her time in Piscataway has not been great...."One of the better freshman" in the country. And McMiller was highly touted coming out of the Life Center Academy in Burlington (south) Jersey. In fact, she was a Jordan All-American and the first high school athlete to ever sign a Name, Image and Likeness contract with the Jordan Brand,
And, judging by her year, McMiller had a very turbulent year. When she was on the court, she led the team in scoring (18.7 ppg) and assists, but the rub was that she missed 10 games -- a few of which were due to suspension and a lot due to ???. It was clear this relationship was not going well and she was going to follow Kaylen Smikle -- another talented hooper who didn't seem to get along with/like Rutgers and/or Coach Coquese Washington; and/or is looking for something else.
She's from Silver Spring, Maryland, so could she follow Smikle and head to Maryland? Shyanne Sellers is off to the WNBA and PG Sarah Te-Biasul is a grad student, so there are places in the backcourt.
Stay tuned....
South Carolina has a connection with Latson through Raven Johnson. They played together in high school and AAU. One thing evident on this team is that we don't really have a "go-to" player like many of the other 1 and 2 seeds. I bet South Carolina gets a look but my one concern is that this will affect either MiLaysia's or Tessa's progression. If Raven stays, either MiLaysia or Tessa would be coming off the bench so that Latson gets the starting 2 guard position.I truly despise this portal/NIL nonsense.........LSU, SC or Tennessee I'd say......
How dare you ignore Joanne P. McCallie using jersey numbers and not using the players' names, notwithstanding the fact McCallie recruited several of the players whose names she refused to use.![]()
I think you need size. At least Spearman is 6'4" but that's it. You have a few 6'2" wings but....I don't know which player's Tennessee will be looking at. I do think Tennessee will add 2 or 3 transfers. This coaching staff has done a great job in recruiting. Both transfers and High School player's.
Yes that's the main concern. Need a athletic big or two. BTW Hurst is 6'3".I think you need size. At least Spearman is 6'4" but that's it. You have a few 6'2" wings but....
She made an official visit to NC State, too.Latson made official visits to Texas, Georgia, and Florida State the summer before her senior season.

The Oregon St. explosion last year showed all that talk means nothing. Heard most of the same things. It's sloganeering, nothing more.I was told this team didn't have transfers, the women all grew up playing with each other and loved playing on the team to develop over their years together. How is this possible she wants to leave?
I think most of the team has graduated now.Wait, when I listened to the replay of the game (I was at it so I had to rewatch), I was told this team didn't have transfers, the women all grew up playing with each other and loved playing on the team to develop over their years together. How is this possible she wants to leave? Timmer is a nice player but Brooklyn Meyer is the focal player for next year.
Already there. Presumably, if there was an AD and University President, she would be gone. There is neither. That said, continued success in the WNIT - they play tonight - would probably be enough for one more year, since RU is also allergic to paying buyouts, apparently.Ok, put Coquese on the "Hot Seat" thread for 2026....her time in Piscataway has not been great....

I watched the replay this evening and had the same exact thought about Timmer after hearing Beth Mowins talking about the South Dakota State players not transferring out.Wait, when I listened to the replay of the game (I was at it so I had to rewatch), I was told this team didn't have transfers, the women all grew up playing with each other and loved playing on the team to develop over their years together. She transferred from MTSU to Michigan last year. She seems kind of restless.Michigan had a hard time retaining players last summer. But this one surprises me, because from the outside… it seemed like their was a lot of joy at that program.
JuJu had the generic booster NIL to "stay home in LA", plus what she was able to add on later in real marketing deals with sponsors.Aren't most of Juju's deals direct with the companies who sponsor her? It's unclear to me how much USC has to do with respect to NIL in her case. I thought she had a couple deals in place before she had even committed.
While I get it and kind of agree, from my vantage point they've been all three even before NIL came into existence.JuJu had the generic booster NIL to "stay home in LA", plus what she was able to add on later in real marketing deals with sponsors.
The biggest real deals only come right at the point player explodes on national scene. In JuJu's case close fans always knew how good she was, but skeptics jumped on board with the 50 point game at Stanford, and the UConn '24 elite 8 game. Nike and State Farm joined then too.
It's difficult for a school to 'guarantee' potential earnings from national marketing deals with big companies during recruitment, but they can guarantee the payout from the booster NIL fund.
Players and agents love to see that real $number on paper.
The new contracts are about to be:
1- scholarship
2- Alston money for school expenses
3- Pay to play money from school fund.
3- Booster NIL.
4- Team NIL, already signed and agreed with local business.
5- Your personal NIL deals with support of our school NIL staff.
= Total compensation.
...but don't worry. You are a student/athlete not an employee.![]()
If I'm correct, Yulia Grabovskaia transferred over from Middle Tennessee and probably expected to start (she got one start all season). Against ND, she and Kate Koval blasted each other around in the lane a few times, but didn't see anything memorable (on either side, truth be told).Michigan had a hard time retaining players last summer. But this one surprises me, because from the outside… it seemed like their was a lot of joy at that program.
