I like this one a lot. Linemen are tough to get in the portal and it looks like he has played a lot at tackle, where we are graduating two of our better players.

What a bizarre time of year - practicing, bowl prep, portals in/out. This can’t be what ANYONE wants.

The portal season is built around the academic calendar. Not sure there is much wholesale change that can be done. Kids that want out want to get to their next school ASAP to be part of spring practice.

The tweak ahead might be to exempt all post season play from the four game redshirt limitation.

And allow anyone in a bowl team a 14 day window post bowl/playoff season end to enter the portal and change schools.

Using this year as an example, I think the solution is to have the portal window open January 21st, the day after the Championship game, and run until February 15th with the late NLI day February 7th. Spring practice usually starts around March 1st, with a couple of schools starting earlier, but that can be changed. Kids would be allowed to transfer and participate in Spring practice and take short classes or take no classes in the Spring semester. If they don't take classes in the Spring semester, they would be required to attend summer school.

Having this same talk with a good friend whose is a PSU fan and ticket holder. He's all upset about Prybula. Ain't the kid's fault.

Pribula even sort of apologized for the timing. Not much you can do based on the academic calendar.

ESPN has too much influence in the post regular season.
1playoff should start the week after conference championship
2. They should play every 7 days not10
3. New Year’s Day bow games should be filled by the remaining70 teams
4. All bowls should be played by January 1
5. College championship complete by the 7 of January
6. Portal open by January 2

won’t happen because of the greed of the mega conferences and ESPN
