2025 NBA Draft Thread

Right now McNeeley’s over under seems about 20.

The Cedric Howard sky rocket is a wild one - didn’t even know who the kid was before Duke was on him in the portal.

NC has Liam at 24.

Usually like NC but Fears at 18 is as awful a projection as I have seen.

True - although I know Dauster was pegging him lower because he can’t shoot well for his size - 28% from 3.

Something will surprise us.

FWIW, that mock draft isn’t predictive, it’s what they would do. Their predictive mock is coming out later today. Fears seems somewhat likely to go 5-8 because some teams love him, but opinions on him vary wildly. He can’t shoot 3s, finish at the rim, or defend, but the handle is awesome and he can create.

Today isn’t as exciting as least year’s draft, but Liam McNeeley almost certain to be a first round pick, and there’s still a chance he’ll be a lottery pick. Here is where he is going in the mock drafts I looked at today. He could really land anywhere from 14 to 27, and honestly, the whole draft is unpredictable after the top 2. It should be a fun night!

Sam Vecenie (The Athletic) - #16 to Memphis
ESPN - #20 to Miami
J. Kyle Mann (The Ringer) - #27 to Brooklyn
Jonathan Wasserman (Bleacher Report) - #23 to New Orleans
Kevin O’Connor - #25 to Orlando
Adam Finkelstein (CBS sports) - #16 to Memphis
Kyle Boone (CBS Sports) - #14 to San Antonio
Gary Parrish (CBS Sports) - #14 to San Antonio
Cameron Salerno (CBS Sports) - #14 to San Antonio
Matt Norlander (CBS Sports) - #19 to Brooklyn
David Cobb (CBS Sports) - #15 to OKC
Colin Ward-Henninger (CBS Sports) - #25 to Orlando

At Consensus Big Board, he’s #20.

Some of the more interesting narratives and where they will go:

Danny Wolf - cool story
Derek Queen - untraditional profile
Cedric Howard
Will Kam Jones go first? Kalk? Will Dixon get drafted?
How high will tourney darling Walter Clayton go based on results?
Will 4 2024 Montverde kids go first (likely)?
How many euros after a draft last year loaded with them early?

Personally curious as to where Proctor goes as I didn’t get him leaving early and think he’s soft as butter.

I’m also curious as to where Raynaud goes as I think he could be a steal.

Are any trades happening?

Very excited to see where Liam lands, I’m a big fan of Newell & Richardson, assume they will be in that 12-20 range as well.

My favorite draft day story ever is about my dad, he passed away in 2008 sadly. In 2004 he was ENAMORED with JR & Josh Smith, he assumed they were brothers since they… well anyway… He watched the McDonalds game and thought they should basically be #1 and #2. I was home watching with a friend and he came into the room every 15 mins asking “if the Smith brothers went yet”

Vecenie now has him going #21 to the Jazz.

Kids story is amazing - I’m rooting for him as a former D3 at a terrible program

As a Celtics fan, there is a huge volume of rumors out there. Brad wanted to move up. Brad wants Kasparas. Teams offering top 10 picks in packages for White or Brown. It's all pretty wild and there are too many fans who don't seem to realize that lottery picks that aren't for guys named Flagg are more like lottery tickets than they are a valuable NBA starter or all star. Most of these guys won't do squat.

There have been a lot of trades and I think more will come as the new CBA forces teams to reconstruct rosters around more cost controlled players. Already the Orlando trade shows that.

My dream is a trade to get Steph on the Celtics somehow.

Give him a year to do whatever he wants on offense while Tatum heals and go nuts the season after looking for the chip.

Who the hell was that last guy they introduced? Never heard of him.

Two observations, 1 how the hell did Rutgers suck so bad with 2 guys taken in the top 5

2. No Europeans taken with the first 10 picks

Guards going early
