I think Reynoud will be the pick due to his shooting, although I think Kalkbrenner will be an effective backup big in the NBA. Penda is one of the best players left. He just might be redundant after the Hugo pick. Both have some physical tools and reasonable upside, but neither is sure bet to shoot it yet.So moving on to Round 2:
For Boston at 32 my preferences are:
1. Rasheer Flemming. Has the body and athleticism to play the 4 and can shoot.
2. Maxime Raynaud. Better NBA game than Kalk.
3. Noah Penda. Know very little, but he can defend both forward spots and his shooting is decent.
Not really. I haven't seen him in any mock drafts or on anybody's big boards. I wouldn't be shocked he ends up on a summer league roster. I know that various teams worked him out during the predraft process.Any shot of Samson getting drafted?
The thing that people don't really mention is how much better having the second round on another day is for teams, which should be the most important factor. They can take a closer look at the prospects who are still available, assess their team's needs after the first round, and shop around for potential deals. As far as the timing, I'm with you that showing it at night makes it easier for people to watch, even if tonight's picks will only be relevant for hardcore fans. The end of this round will be slim pickings.I don't get the complains about this (you're not alone on it, so I'm not picking on you by any means). Do you have something better to do? If so, do it.
I love the draft, and I love another day of content and something to watch tonight. The afternoon was tough to watch and also media people had to choose between making content talking about the 1st round or covering the 2nd round, now they can do both and I can consume both.
ESPN has a guy on staff that fits that bill. No idea how good he is front of a camera but they may want to give it a try. I couldn't listen to Stephen A. Smith, who probably didn't watch more than a hand full of college basketball games all year.I think in a general sense, the NBA is trying to capture the magic, the event that is the NFL draft. They are failing completely in that goal. They will go back to the drawing board I am sure. They have nobody who even knows these players on the broadcasts. There's a stable of college guys who could be good at this, but they choose the NBA guys who are often woefully ignorant of the college game (and in Perk's case, woefully ignorant in general). They need the basketball equivalent of a Mel Kiper or something. A guy who studies all these players, including international, builds little highlight videos, who can dissect strengths, weaknesses etc.
Givony works the draft night for ESPN, he's really not that good on camera though. His former Draft Express partner Mike Schmitz used to work for the ESPN draft night coverage as well and was much better on camera, he got hired by the Blazers a few years ago.ESPN has a guy on staff that fits that bill. Yes and no tbh. There are so few players thatSo true. Take the top 2 players from the top 2 teams (according to NCAA seeding) this past college season: Flagg and Broome. You compare their stats head to head, and the 2 of them compare very similarly. Flagg has the edge in 3 pt shooting and steals, Broome the edge with rebounds and blocks...everything else is more or less a push. While Broome played the 5 most of the time, both are projected to play the 4 in the NBA.
So what's the big difference? Flagg's 18 while Broome turns 23 in 3 weeks. Flagg is already as good as he is but still had a LOT of room to become an ever better player, while Broome probably doesn't have much run way to improve his game that much more, being almost 23 already.
They may have more or less been equals on the court this past season, but Flagg has so much more potential to grow his game, hence why he was the consensus #1 pick while Broome is a 2nd rounder.

Needed to happen. The nba second round is now important and it gives teams time to talk with agents about if players are interested in :The thing that people don't really mention is how much better having the second round on another day is for teams, which should be the most important factor. I wouldn't say zero. Maybe a team likes him as a draft and stash for 2 years in Australia. More likely he should try and get an exhibit 10 deal as an UDFA. That comes during summer league. Sure he will get picked up for the summer .Zero
Would have been classic if Niederhauser came out in LiederhaussenThat dap was about as clean as it gets
Givony was on the ESPN broadcast last night. Watching that was better than watching ABC. Givony, Bilas, and Bobby Marks were all fine. Kendrick Perkins really doesn't know much.ESPN has a guy on staff that fits that bill. No idea how good he is front of a camera but they may want to give it a try. I couldn't listen to Stephen A. Not financially "poor Liam"... "poor" for being drafted by one of the worst franchises in the NBA... Not sure why the Celtics did not draft him one position earlier.Let’s not poor Liam him - still netted a 14mm contract and who knows if his stock goes up with another year. It could have just as easily exposed his flaws further. Now it’s on him to get to the second contract. Go get it Liam.
I’d say Brad Stevens is fairly competentNot financially "poor Liam"... "poor" for being drafted by one of the worst franchises in the NBA... Not sure why the Celtics did not draft him one position earlier.
Such a crazy decision. The Pelicans pick is likely to be a lottery pick next year, and the 2026 draft is thought to be better than 2025.I like Derik Queen, but the Pelicans trading an unprotected 2026 first rounder to move up and draft him has the chance to really blow up in their face considering who is expected to be at the top of the 2026 draft. Their 2 best players are Zion and Trey Murphy and neither can stay healthy, if they miss time they'll be right back at the bottom of the standings.
must have missed it cause I didn't see a clean dapThat dap was about as clean as it gets
