Wild steal of 3rd by Josh Naylor leads to Mariner’s first run on sac fly. Skubal already at 36 pitches after two.

what a crazy 12th inning. that bunt attempt was a foul ball. tight zone. But Detroit gets out of the jam.

Can’t any of these “pros” bunt successfully? I mean Judas, they’re supposed to be pros.

Pitiful!

A good manager would insist on 7-9 being able to bunt.

Signed,

Earl Weaver

The quality of play in today's mlb seems to have gone downhill.
Reality is that it's much better - in particular the stuff of pitchers. They may not do the little things quite as well due to analytics, but the quality is definitely there.

The stuff might be better but the quality of pitching is not.

My theory is that having the ghost runner rule has a negatiive on playoff teams in extras. Look what you did Manfred A, and you better not add the ghost runner rule in extras.

The way they teach pitching these days is so advanced - in terms of how they measure data points, teach mechanics, use the funnel. Not sure that's right.

There were a lot more "nibblers" back in the days - guys like Jamie Moyer, who would nibble the strike zone throwing mid 80's. Those kind of guys don't exist anymore. They were effective and you might perceive them as better pitchers, but stuff was meh. Easier to bang corners when you're chucking it in the 80s.

That was incredibly unimpressive baseball. A bunch of journeymen pitchers shutting the teams down, no fundamentals moving the runners over. Gleyber Torres is the #2 hitter for the Tigers for crissakes.

I only started watching this season a week ago but it’s nakedly obvious that Toronto is going to stomp these guys

You may laugh at this but don't think for a second that Manfred won't try to add the ghost runner in the playoffs.

I watched that whole game, I can’t think of a way to describe it that fits less than “unimpressive baseball.”

A couple guys missed their bunts and a bunch of incredible pitches and defense got the teams out of jams.

I can’t imagine calling that game unimpressive but I guess we’re different.

Yep. Some people know the sport, some don't.

Skubal was certainly impressive. I watched the entire game as well. Ebbs and flows but good game to watch
