The higher seed gets all games at home, which is madness. In my opinion, the higher seed should get the first two games at home, and if it goes to a third game, then the lower seed should host. If the higher seed can’t take care of business in those two games, then they don’t deserve another break with another home game. Manfred and Goodell are doing their darndest to outdo each other with idiotic rule changes. Are all three wild card games (Boston vs NY) in NY? I thought they alternated home and away.
I disagree. If you look at the Reds, they were 40-40 in the last 80 games. They don't have a hitter over .270, a hitter with more than 22 HRs or 86 RBI. They were 26-26 in their division and lost their last game, only getting in because the Mets gagged. They should have to win 2 of 3 on the road to advance. The higher seed gets all games at home, which is madness. This gives a MASSIVE advantage to the lower seeded team. All you have to do to get a home elimination game is steal 1 game on the roadThe higher seed gets all games at home, which is madness. That’s ALL you have to do? What’s so special about this round? Hell why not have the higher seed gets all every home game in every round them while we are at it?This gives a MASSIVE advantage to the lower seeded team. All you have to do to get a home elimination game is steal 1 game on the road
You can find hot and cold stretches for any team throughout a season. I ask again what’s so special about this round? Then why not have the higher seed get every home game in later series? If the argument is that unworthy teams are making the playoffs, then maybe have fewer teams make it? You’re either a playoff team or you aren’t.I disagree. Flip it - first game away, last two at home. You can win series in front of home fans. This gives a MASSIVE advantage to the lower seeded team. All you have to do to get a home elimination game is steal 1 game on the road
Just telling you why it won't happen, it's the same complaint made about the 2-3-2 format and why the NBA changed it. It gives a big advantage to lower seeded teamsThat’s ALL you have to do? Cold "Stretch"? They were a .500 team the second half of the season. Their best month of the entire season was 15-11. Then 14-11 and then 14-13. They never had a single hot stretch. You can find hot and cold stretches for any team throughout a season. I ask again what’s so special about this round? I get it from a logistical point of view. The higher seed gets all games at home, which is madness. The NBA (after the play in round) has 8 teams make the playoffs in each conference. Each team, no matter the seed, has the opportunity to play at least one home game. Sorry but you won’t convince me that this is asinine.Just telling you why it won't happen, it's the same complaint made about the 2-3-2 format and why the NBA changed it. It doesn’t matter though. The NBA has 8 teams in each conference playing after the play in round. Every team, regardless of seeding, has the opportunity to play at least one home game. You won’t convince me that this is stupid, sorry.Cold "Stretch"? They were a .500 team the second half of the season. Their best month of the entire season was 15-11. Then 14-11 and then 14-13. 1-1-1 would be the only other way to do it and that’s not really feasibleThat’s ALL you have to do? What’s so special about this round? Hell why not have the higher seed gets all every home game in every round them while we are at it?
What you're missing is that this wild card series is the equivalent of the play in round. Where each team does not get a home gameIt doesn’t matter though. I agree. I actually would support a day/night double header at higher seed, a travel day and if needed game 3 at the lower seed.1-1-1 would be the only other way to do it and that’s not really feasible
And you won't convince me they deserve a home game.It doesn’t matter though. The NBA has 8 teams in each conference playing after the play in round. Every team, regardless of seeding, has the opportunity to play at least one home game. You won’t convince me that this is stupid, sorry.
problem is the travel...you want to be playing baseball in Dec? NY-Bos is easy..what happens when it's Tampa-Seattle?The 3 home game potential for the higher seeded team does not sit well with me. I think 2 and 1 makes better sense. Or just go back to the old 1 game playoff at the higher seeds location.
It’s a 6 1/2 nonstop flight.problem is the travel...you want to be playing baseball in Dec? NY-Bos is easy..what happens when it's Tampa-Seattle?
Nonsense. One of the division winners is playing in it and often the wild card teams have the same or better records than the division winners. Three at home is ridiculous given how close most of these teams are to each other record wise. What you're missing is that this wild card series is the equivalent of the play in round.
