Why not? The game has gotten global. Euros play more team centric, less hero. We built our program on international kids in the 90s (Nadav). I’m all for it. Adama was African, Samson. Florida won with two international bigs last year. Not where I want college basketball going, but since it is going there I want UConn at the forefront and getting ahead of the curve.
Agree. What's wrong with getting a few guys that are a bit more mature on and off the court and presumably are more apt to fit in right away to an offensive scheme like ours?!Why not? This is weird coming from a UConn fan. Henefeld, Sheffer, Neils, we were ahead of our time in bring in international kids. Not where I want college basketball going, but since it is going there I want UConn at the forefront and getting ahead of the curve.

this x100I mean I understand some of the sentiment. Incoming freshmen are going to find it harder than it already is. Also some of these international players are playing semi-pro ball up to age 21-22 and will have significant eligibility. I think it’s less about the international players as it is about the worry that CBB will soon be dominated by 22-26 year olds.
It'll become like college hockey. Average age ~ 22 years old.this x100
I see both sides, but a good point. Colleges across the US can’t forget the grass roots kids coming out of high school.I mean I understand some of the sentiment. If they're playing semi pro up until age 22 then they're coming over with very limited eligibility. They only get 5 years post HS graduation no matter when they come over and start playing in collegeI mean I understand some of the sentiment. The "problem" isn't internationals. The "problem" is post-college age professionals coming to the US to play basketball in college as better-paid professional basketball players. Why not? And don't forget the part where I essentially said "I don't want to see it, but if we are going to see it, I want UConn as the forefront and winning championships off the backs of these pros."The "problem" isn't internationals. I wasn't even counting international guys who played HS in the US like most of those.Along with Eric Reibe, Jacob Furphy, Adama Sanogo, Samson Johnson, Hasheem Thabeet, Amida Brimah, Charles Okwandu, Denham Brown, Souleymane Wane

And why don’t you want American basketball to go there? Not where I want college basketball going, but since it is going there I want UConn at the forefront and getting ahead of the curve.
there's life beyond college basketball, going to a school where you get minutes and reps can advance you faster(certain cases) than other players who have to ride the bench early. For example look at Bub Carrington and his AAU teammates Solo Ball and Jayden Ross.Sorry if I sound like a broken record, but I continue to wonder why anyone listens to another coach’s pitch after he’s heard from Dan Hurley.
Sure, I get that we seem pretty loaded, so he’d really have to earn PT. But if you have confidence in yourself, isn’t it better to come off the bench/be in the rotation at a school that’s going to again compete for the national championship? Even if you feel you’ll be a starter, is it better to play at a minimally contending school, like Virginia or Iowa?
You don't think college basketball should be played by college students? And why don’t you want American basketball to go there?
Unless you’re top 10-15 there is no point going to a top program that wants to win the NC every year, if you want PT. Unless you are getting more NIL to ride pine, which begs why any school would burn NIL for a bench kid. There will come a time soon where anyone below that line is going to go second tier program to play, and they can just transfer after that year.I mean I understand some of the sentiment. Reibe and Furphy are going to play, Reibe is going to play a lot.Unless you’re top 10-15 there is no point going to a top program that wants to win the NC every year, if you want PT. These smaller classes the staff is referring to will likely be 1-2 top kids, otherwise save it for the portal. 611s worst nightmare but he’s had his head in the sand hoping 2000 was coming back, as does 90% of this board.
