I went looking for tickets to tonight’s game. $175/each seems a bit steep.
Got mine from StubHub for about $75 apiece at 11:00 am including fees and later was bumped to first row in sec next to UConn bench - the side where they access the locker room.

The puck was crazy bouncy and prevented both teams from making crisp plays but in the end well worth it!

What a great win. SHU is good.
A big team and that’s very physical. UConn has faster skaters that can fly past the blue line but neither team could make plays tonight. A very bouncy puck didn’t help matters.

Toward the end Cav talks again about how this needs to be played at the XL and he's 100% right. He mentioned he had to turn people away who were asking for tickets.
To say otherwise is you're intentionally capping the ceiling on this event.
I’ve been saying this since the tourney started. And not only just because it takes me just 15 minutes to get there. The XL Center is simply the best venue for this tourney.

I agree with Cav on XL but I also get that nobody really knew if this would be a success so putting it in each school’s home rink made sense. I hope that in the future after Yale gets its turn to host, they move to the XL permanently.

We also noticed the ice seemed soft…skaters on both sides seem to lose an edge frequently. In the third period rink area was cold. Mgmt was probably making adjustments.

I know it has already been mentioned, but parking was horrible. Surprisingly because the surrounding area used to be GE HQ. Move this event to XL. It was awesome last year with more fans

Yale is hosting next year’s CT Ice tournament, Confirmed. I hope to take the Hartford Line Rail down for those games. Still, the listed capacity at Ingalls is only 3500 so I hope there will be an opportunity to get tix other than through the secondary market.

The XL is the best place for this tournament if 10-12k will be achievable but I don’t know why Bridgeport wouldn’t be considered again to rotate to with its 8k capacity and proximity to the other three state schools. If the renovated XL does hit >8k then it’s a no brainer to keep it there…

Ironically we found parking one the best features of the Martire arena. We were fortunate to arrive 15-20 minutes after QU and Yale played and nabbed a spot in a parking garage. Many jackets with semaphores promoting the way. The garage connects directly to the arena indoors - it felt like an airport. Well designed we thought. Maybe not enough of it but it really beats walking to Toscano from South Garage. Security check was also inside.

From what I gather in speaking with students and fans, the arena isn’t usually filled up like it was last night, so the staff and systems had to compensate for more bodies in the audience, albeit a little too late.

SHU 100% built this venue to be able to ascend to a more prestigious conference. At 4k seats it meets the Hockey East requirement. They would be a great addition to the league and Holy Cross could still field its women’s team there too.
