I know it has already been mentioned, but parking was horrible. Surprisingly because the surrounding area used to be GE HQ. Move this event to XL. It was awesome last year with more fans
What about the parking did you think was horrible? If you got parking in the nearby garage, you didn't have to walk outside at all. Also parking was free! The only think that sucked was getting out of the garage. At UConn you have to pay to park unless you sneak into a lot. Either or no matter where you park you have to walk outside.

I also noticed not much room in lower bowl - i assume they will open up some of the upper sections relatively soon. Regardless, a great sign. The players would love to see a good 7-9K crowd and would probably come out firing on all cylinders.

Out of curiosity, has there been many other universities that have top-20 ranked mhoc, whoc, wbb, mbb (at least for a day)?

Fun question. The pool of Women's D1 teams is only 44 (If I counted correctly) . Surprising that some BG0 teams like Michigan State and Michigan don't have them. No Notre Dame Either...

The state isn't that big. Play it on Friday/Saturday at the XL. This notion there is a home ice advantage with no school is within 20 miles of the place is silly.

UConn - 25.7 miles
QU - 32.1 miles
Yale - 38.6 miles
SHU - 55.1 miles

Any crowd bias is based solely on enrollment size and interest. If any school doesn't like it, I'm sure Providence or a bunch of other schools would love to be part of a rotating invitation list. The event has outgrown the campus sites.

-> “It was a great weekend,” Muszelik said. “We played well as a team, we were really mature and we played well defensively. We played elimination-game style, and that made it easier on me. I just felt confident in there, they didn’t have many second or third opportunities.” <-

-> “This year is my first year getting a decent amount of back-to-back opportunities,” Muszelik said. “I’ve gotten more comfortable with it as the season has gone along. There have been a lot of time when I played better in the second game going back-to-back, so I used that as confidence going into Saturday, knowing I’m ready and I’m fresh.” <-

-> “We’re in a really good spot right,” Muszelik said. “We believe in each other, we believe in this team, that we have something special. That’s a big part of it, just having belief. Right now, we’re feeling confident with where our game is at and we’re winning those one-goal games, and those are the ones that really count in the end.” <-

From what I gather in speaking with students and fans, the arena isn’t usually filled up like it was last night, so the staff and systems had to compensate for more bodies in the audience, albeit a little too late.

SHU 100% built this venue to be able to ascend to a more prestigious conference. At 4k seats it meets the Hockey East requirement. They would be a great addition to the league and Holy Cross could still field its women’s team there too.
Be nice to see another ct school in HE, but not sure we will ever see it.

I think SHU is more likely to end up in the ECAC if an opportunity comes along. Hockey East would take Quinnipiac if the Q wanted it but I think they like the ECAC and from what I’ve heard think it makes their NCAA route easier. Hockey East wants Holy Cross. Not sure why, but that seems to be the rumor anyway. Or one of the New York schools. Again makes no sense. I think SHU would be pretty far down the list of Schools they’d take. UConn got in because Hockey East always wanted the six New England states covered and the Governor was a hockey fan. And I think they saw the marketing potential of UConn that nobody else brought at the time. BTW, if URI had a program, they would be a favorite for the final HEA spot. The league would wait for them to develop too. Start out playing 4-5 years in AHA before coming up to Hockey East.

Ironically we found parking one the best features of the Martire arena. We were fortunate to arrive 15-20 minutes after QU and Yale played and nabbed a spot in a parking garage. Many jackets with semaphores promoting the way. The garage connects directly to the arena indoors - it felt like an airport. Well designed we thought. Maybe not enough of it but it really beats walking to Toscano from South Garage. Security check was also inside.

Arrived five minutes after the first game ended and we were told lots were full for the night and had to park at the prep school up the hill almost a mile away and be bussed down to rink. There were more than 200 of us waiting for buses after the game. Outside. Took too long.

Quinnipiac wouldnt have the balls to join the hockey east. They are a big fish in a small pond and use that as an easy route to the nationals

QU would make HE even a tougher grind. While they have an easier regular season in the ECAC, they were not happy in 2020 when the 6 Ivy League teams in the ECAC (2 don't play hockey.) shut down their seasons completely because of COVID. I think Pecknold is a great coach and recruiter. Simply put, QU could make a great conference even better.

Id love to add them - i just dont think they would think it makes sense for them. Their current setup works really well.
