Some recent bowl projections from this week:

Boca Raton, vs. Coastal Carolina (USA Today)

JLab Birmingham, vs. Tennessee (Hero Sports)

Duke’s Mayo, vs. Pitt (Projection Sports)

Myrtle Beach, vs. Southern Miss or Kennesaw State (Athlon, ESPN)

Cure Bowl, vs. JMU (The Athletic)

Gasparilla, vs. FSU (ESPN)

1. Gasparilla, vs. FSU (ESPN). Very good location, P4 opponent who will probably be missing a good chunk of their roster.
2. JLab Birmingham, vs. Tennessee (Hero Sports). Good location. Great memory for the program. Not quite as accessible as Tampa and weather can vary greatly.
3. Duke’s Mayo, vs. Pitt (Projection Sports). Easy location, P4 opponent whom UConn has somewhat of a history playing against
4. Cure Bowl, vs. JMU (The Athletic). Easy to get to for the game. High risk/ high reward G5 opponent. I would guess little roster attrition from either side and both programs looking to establish G5 hierarchy.
5. Boca Raton, vs. Coastal Carolina (USA Today). Meh. Easy enough to get to. No buzz for the bowl game or the opponent. Weather will be warm.
6. Myrtle Beach, vs. Southern Miss or Kennesaw State (Athlon, ESPN). Meh minus. Like everything at Boca, but less. And weather in the 50's isn't out of the question.

I can listen to arguments for Birmingham being #1 and Gasparilla #2 but I think those two are clearly 1 and 2. Pitt is a safe #3 and Cure is #4. If anyone wants to get in an argument over Boca or Myrtle, have fun. I have zero f-----.

Chin, FSU is out. Their loss this past Friday eliminated them from bowl eligibility

FSU is 5-6, they can become bowl eligible with a win over Florida

One of the best things living along the gulf coast of Florida this week is listening to all the Gator and Noles fans each convinced there is no way their team can win this week.

I’ve been hearing the Pinstripe is very interested. They see a gazillion Husky fans filling the joint. Against a Big 10 opponent. Nebraska is what I heard but it could be someone else.
Nebraska again? How often to bowls repeat teams (aside from CFP)

All good points, and all things out of our control.

I understand that beating the brand of a middling P4 might get more attention, but I personally would like a test of how good we are. I want to earn the 10th win.

I'd be satisfied if a hurricane blew the other team back into their endzone on every third down attempt as long as we get a W. JMU would be a really fun game to watch if we can come in close to full strength. But the reality is that media and most fans care more about the logo on the helmet than the quality of the opponent.

Will the departure of HC Mora hurt our bowl projections or even knock us out of a bowl entirely? Someone mentioned in another thread that it might, so I wanted to verify that claim.

Less UConn fans to attend bowl game? Yes

Less UConn season ticket holders to renew by December 3? Yes

These answers are based on a source I trust who is in the know.

It's not going to knock UConn out, UConn is still the top team available among those who aren't contracted to a spot.

It may or may not mean anything in the level of bowl. The bowl cares about the fan and/or story/TV profile basis. Bell & Fagnano plus a 9-3 team that has multiple P4 wins (the only other is project G5 rep in the playoff, Tulane) gives an impressive amount of storylines. Even Mora leaving is a story line... how does UConn respond, yada yada.

So these answers make me wonder—will the committees tell UConn “tough luck,” or will they still see UConn as an underdog story?

If something like that does indeed happen, will they run the Yankee Clipper down to the stadium do you suppose?

From after last weekend:

A New Haven Pizza Bowl - wow, what an opportunity. Mascots from Pepe's, Sally's, Zuppardi's and Modern racing on the field. Make this happen!
What about the NDC bowl (National Defense Contractors bowl). We have so many of these companies in state getting each to donate a small sum could work if they were willing.

I think you meant to say ULM (3-8) over UL (5-6)
Ark State (5-6) are playing App State (5-6) which I am sure you have already accounted for.

Yeah, it wasn't my list - someone posted it here a few days ago. At any rate, so far so good.

North Texas up big on Temple at the half 35-7.
