2025 Bowl Predictions

Would love either, or any bowl game at all, but especially would love to see the Metro North crowd pack Yankee Stadium for the Pinstripe Bowl against a B10 team.

totally... if it did happen, hopefully they don't stick us with rutgers. that would feel like a cop out to spare their bigger brands from having to play us.

I would be thrilled to play someone like Iowa, Minnesota, UW, Illinois, or Nebraska. All middle-of-the-pack B1G teams with actual brand cachet, where a win is possible, if we play our best game ever.

Of all of these though, my favorite would be UW. Huskies vs. Huskies, Jim Mora facing his home sweet home. Mix in some basketball history between the 2 programs, and there's a great back story.

Assumption was at one time number 24 in the country in division 2 this year

I like to know where you went to high school that your teams are that good
Division 2 players are okay high school players. The best high school players go either Division 1 and/or Division IAA. No comparison of level of players. My daughter went to High school at The Hun School of Princeton. Her team definitely could beat division 2 and 3 teams given the level of players each year that played division I.

Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, but it only seats 75,000
Been there, done that. Yawn. But we had a guy at our tailgate who was a regular on One Tree Hill. Wake fan, though.

Fine 'em!! They are being paid. What are they gonna do in the NFL, not play in last game of the season because they are in the playoffs?
That’s actually an interesting question….does NIL change the whole “I’m sitting out the bowl game” issue? Does the NIL agreement ever include language around being available to play in all games when healthy?

It bogles my mind how many expensive private schools are located around Princeton (Hun, Lawrenceville, Peddie, Princeton Day, Stuart)...can pay for a few years at UConn when you compare the tuitions.

Last year I was out of country for our bowl, and if we get another good bowl, I think it's gonna overlap when I'm out of the country again, but I'll gladly watch the recording when I return.

Lol my friends daughter swims at Peddie and their high school/prep team would smoke the UConn women's swim team right of of the water

Pitt vs UConn

The author of this projection admitted an error - Duke vs Tulane in the Fenway Bowl. Tulane beat Duke 34-27 back in September so likely wouldn't be matched up for a bowl.

FSU in Tampa? Sign me up.

Anyone else catch that Kyle Bonagura either thinks we’re not going to a bowl or forgot to predict one for us…lol. I looked a few times and didn’t see us listed for any of his predictions. Does someone need to remind him we’re bowl eligible??

I think the guys at ESPN spend a total of 5 minutes tops on this. He probably had us off his first draft and never really looked again.

I can’t speak to swimming, but I doubt any high school team would beat a D2 or 3 college team. I go to a couple of D3 games a year and those teams are pretty talented. They might have a 275 pound tackle and a 5-10 quarterback.

Above is their roster for 2025. You need to get out more. Go watch high level high school ball in Florida or Texas. I played division 1 football and to me division 3 reminds me of high school level based on size and talent.

In the interest of steering the thread to the topic at hand .... didn't see a compilation of projections, so if this is a repeat, apologies, but here goes. I think this is the first week I haven't seen the 2 Alabama bowls mentioned.

Cure (Orlando) Dec. 17 JMU (The Athletic)

Myrtle Beach Dec. 19 East Carolina (Col.foot news) Southern Miss (McMurphy)

Gasparilla (Tampa) Dec. 19 Florida St. (ESPN Schlabach, draftkings) South florida (CBS Sports) (note: no UConn projection from ESPN Bonaguro)

Boca Raton Dec. 23 Coastal Carolina (USA Today)

Frisco (Tex) Dec. 23 California (Athlon)

Liberty (@Memphis) Jan 2 Cincinnati (SI)

Duke's Mayo (Charlotte) Jan. 2 Pitt (Projection Sports? - fancy graphic, 27K followers, but 1st time I'd heard ofthem)

Yeah, I noticed the omission by Bonaguro but didn't want to drag that in to the conversation. Like @Chonky said, I'll guess they don't spend a ton of time filling out the bowl game slate beyond the playoff brackets. And I'm even more certain they don't double check their work or have an editor who checks it.

I don't think so. You can look up the times at both schools last season and compare them. I looked at 11 events from 50 free to 200 medley relay and UConn beat Peddie in 8 out of 11 events.

Great question and maybe there ends up being a big difference
Pro prospects on traditional football powers like FSU and Penn State playing in a lower bowl might not care
Our guys getting UConn to a bowl game may be more excited to play and want to help their draft status as much as possible
Also, I like to think our guys are committed to the program building and would feel a sense of unfinished business in skipping. Of course I don't know how that argument stacks up against an agent telling them what the risk of playing is.

I would be ready for guys to step out of the bowls if they are projected in the early rounds of the draft......almost for sure if they expect to be invited to the combine.
