2025 Bowl Predictions

Are we certain Joe, Bell and Parham won't skip the bowl?
Great question and maybe there ends up being a big difference
Pro prospects on traditional football powers like FSU and Penn State playing in a lower bowl might not care
Our guys getting UConn to a bowl game may be more excited to play and want to help their draft status as much as possible

With Penn State and Rutgers yet to be determined if they will be bowl eligible until the play each other Thanksgiving weekend we likely won't know where were going until their bowl eligibility is determined.

Playing a name opponent having a down year would be a lot of fun. Having said that, the only bowl that matters right now is our game at FAU Saturday. There will be 2 weeks to worry about where, when and against whom our bowl is after we get through Saturday.
While you’re not wrong, would not the better path have been to just avoid the thread titled bowl predictions?

Personally, yes. I think this program means more to them than their personal goals.

I think Joe and company would absolutely want to play FSU. That's a game they probably wouldn't want to miss.

You are missing the point. I am certainly interested in speculation on where we might play, but the mojo requires that we all pretend to be focused on just the next step. I was not criticizing anyone who posted — just urging us to honor the mojo.

I just can't imagine Chesney going that far west...he went from Salve (RI) to Assumption (MA) to HC (MA) before he went down the JMU (VA)...other spots will open that are a better fit for him.

Follow the money

UConn bowl game will be significantly impacted by the number of SEC and Big 10 teams that make the CFP. Right now you could be looking at up to 6 for the SEC and 3 for the BIG 10. That will open up a lot of bowl game opportunities for UConn.

I mean, I get it in theory. But there are some places I just wouldn't go.

I know I'm not him.
Chesney will go where it makes the best economic sense and best opportunity to win. For example I do not care how much you are getting paid to coach for Arkansas. No chance to win anything there within the incredibly deep SEC. You are just guaranteed to go 500 or less.

It still boggles my mind that schools like Salve Regina and Assumption fiels football teams.

I could be wrong, but when I was an undergrad (fall 78 - spring 82) both were all girls schools.
Assumption was never an all girls school. Salva was at one time

Any player that has a chance to be drafted will most likely skip their bowl game unless they are are in CFP. Unfortunately, that is is the new reality in college football.

I would like to avoid any of those three, losing to a G5 even an excellent one like these would be of no benefit to us as opposed to losing to a P4 team say in a close game. And, I can think of many P4 teams that I think we stand a better chance to beat than one of these three.
I want to play the best team and beat them. We can’t be afraid to lose.

At this time last year, no one was projecting us to the Fenway Bowl.
Exactly. The same thing happened in 2022 - every single site that is making predictions, has us in a different bowl vs a different opponent. Which simple means nobody has any clue where we are going and these predictions are useless.

Fine 'em!! They are being paid. What are they gonna do in the NFL, not play in last game of the season because they are in the playoffs?

Would love either, or any bowl game at all, but especially would love to see the Metro North crowd pack Yankee Stadium for the Pinstripe Bowl against a B10 team.

totally... if it did happen, hopefully they don't stick us with rutgers. that would feel like a cop out to spare their bigger brands from having to play us.

I would be thrilled to play someone like Iowa, Minnesota, UW, Illinois, or Nebraska. All middle-of-the-pack B1G teams with actual brand cachet, where a win is possible, if we play our best game ever.

Of all of these though, my favorite would be UW. Huskies vs. Huskies, Jim Mora facing his home sweet home. Mix in some basketball history between the 2 programs, and there's a great back story.

Assumption was at one time number 24 in the country in division 2 this year

I like to know where you went to high school that your teams are that good
Division 2 players are okay high school players. The best high school players go either Division 1 and/or Division IAA. No comparison of level of players. My daughter went to High school at The Hun School of Princeton. Her team definitely could beat division 2 and 3 teams given the level of players each year that played division I.

Duke's Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, but it only seats 75,000
Been there, done that. Yawn. But we had a guy at our tailgate who was a regular on One Tree Hill. Wake fan, though.

Joe Zone mentioned the Cure Bowl in Orlando as a possibility. I havent researched the bowl tie-ins so I have no clue if this is a realistic possibility.
I wonder where Joe read that?

That’s actually an interesting question….does NIL change the whole “I’m sitting out the bowl game” issue? Does the NIL agreement ever include language around being available to play in all games when healthy?

It bogles my mind how many expensive private schools are located around Princeton (Hun, Lawrenceville, Peddie, Princeton Day, Stuart)...can pay for a few years at UConn when you compare the tuitions.

Last year I was out of country for our bowl, and if we get another good bowl, I think it's gonna overlap when I'm out of the country again, but I'll gladly watch the recording when I return.

Lol my friends daughter swims at Peddie and their high school/prep team would smoke the UConn women's swim team right of of the water
