This doesn’t surprise me at all. In fact I would expect it to become more common now with the portal and early coaching changes.

I was recently wondering if UConn would do the very same thing for similar reasons.

i know this has been asked but i can't find it - can our "portal declared" players play in the bowl game?
what are our chances of getting a good bowl now that we lost the coach? i understand we have candle, but this is still a program in transition, so not sure anymore if good bowls are attracted to us, or if we will actually show up in full force, roster-wise.

hoping even with the changes to come this offseason, I can enjoy seeing the "actual" 2025 uconn team one last time before it blows up.

Last year I believe that Mora let players who entered the portal play in the game if they wanted to.

They can play, assuming they want to and UConn doesn’t stop them. I can’t imagine UConn telling anyone important “you can’t” as keeping them in the program for the month gives Candle time to convince them to stay.

I've always been happy with Duke's Mayo as a possibility. But after reading the payout is 4.8m, it's probably my preference. Only other bowl I've seen us connected to that pays more was the Liberty at 6m, but I've always thought that bowl was a long shot.

Regardless I'll be happy wherever we end up. Just happy tomorrow the waiting game is over and we finally get to find out.
