It's like a bad movie. The Naked Gun meets Benny Hill. Sure he's got a hot girlfriend but unless it's comedy, it's just creepy. I always thought the dude was weird with all his crappy cut-off sweatshirts. I guess some recruits might want to play for a hall of fame coach but as a recruit I'd be looking for a serious program to begin my career

He bought all the hype from sports analysts that he was one of greatest of all. The problem was, one Brady and McDaniels left it showed how BB was riding Brady and great coordinators his whole career. Props to know who to hire in though positions but his ego inflated faster the the emergency blow stairs during a plane crash and it appears he's too narcissistic to admit maybe he's the problem.

Speaking of Yates, he's only played against Clemson due to concussion and had a few tackles. Maybe he should just sit out the rest of comedy central and work towards next year

I think it is a bit early to judge Belichick just yet. In some ways this reminds me of Sanders’ first season at Colorado. I think they were 4-8 and looked a mess. They were somehow expecting a year 1 miracle. Those happen but not that often and when they do there is often a bit of backsliding in future years.

In some ways it is like the situation with Arch Manning. Expectations were raised because of who the people were. They didn’t do a lot of pumping up the expectations beyond pretty typical stuff. Oh and if Belichick was still with his wife there wouldn’t be as much nonsense.

I don’t know if he will be a great college coach. Some guys make the transition better than others. And some places are easier than others. I suspect despite all the pr, UNC is first and foremost a basketball school. That’s how the athletic dept and the fan base thinks even if they don’t realize it. If you offered them a football championship every year and no more basketball titles or a basketball title every 10 years and no football ones I am pretty sure which one most UNC fans and athletic administrators would take

His program is a disaster and he and Lombardi or whatever his name is don't understand how different college football is from the pros.

Also he's got coaches getting suspended.

He says he's fully committed?

He can claim that but the reality is that he hasn't been invested enough in the UNC job (I've been saying this for ~7 months ths) to accomplish anything.

When he was at the top of his game do you believe anyone (including the head coach) would have been allowed to have their significant other around practices and on the sidelines?

He may not be viewing it objectively enough to realize but the truth is he is mailing it in.
 
I think one of Belichick's biggest issues is roster construction. Last year, he brought in 29 HS players and 41 transfers. For 2026, UNC has 36 HS commits. The team is not good this year, so why is he planning on signing 36 HS players who won't have much of an impact next year?

Some people are comparing what Belichick is doing with what Sanders did at Colorado. The two situations are not comparable. Sanders inherited a 1-11 team that had one winning season in 17 years. Belichick inherited a 6-7 team that had gone to 6 straight bowls.

Sanders brought in 2 stud transfers his first year, his son Shadeur and Travis Hunter, and he continues to focus on the transfer portal. Based on the 36 HS recruits for 2026, it seems like Belichick wants to run a development program which will take longer to turn around. Sanders won in year 2, and Sanders' first year schedule included 6 Top 25 teams. UNC may not even play a top 25 team this year.
 
I didn't think that Belichick and Co understand the talent difference between the NFL and college. In the NFL the difference between all pro and 3rd string isn't all that big. In NCAA the difference between all American and 3rd string is massive.

To be fair, Sanders went 4-8 his first year even with the two stud transfers.
 
I think moving from the NFL to college or vise versa is not that easy. And not everybody can do it. 18-20 year old guys have a different understanding of the world than 30 year old guys with families and mortgages depute high salaries. And as CCSU pointed out the difference between starters and backups in college can be huge. In the NFL it is a matter of degree.

I mean if you’re not actually trying to do your job it doesn’t matter where you come from.
