I know Mora likes running back by committee, but it seems like Edwards has taken over as the feature back going into the season.

I knew that Mora was pissed about last year. You could tell by some of his comments during and after the season. This just confirms it.

-> Mora was irritable — the Huskies started 1-9 — and not much was accomplished last year in a way of capturing interest in a state riding, now as much as ever, an incredible basketball wave. But football remains very much at the heart of the university’s athletic profile, a linchpin to its hopes for ever joining a power conference, it’s heaviest investment. It has to be functional and interesting, like it was in 2022.

Last season was a step back for a program with an incredible up-and-down identity throughout its rather brief 25-year stay in the sport’s highest level of competition. <-

-> New defensive coordinator Matt Brock brings a 3-3-5 scheme that Mora said he expects to be “an equalizer” from a talent perspective and also something that trips up opponents because they don’t see it often. Safety Malik Dixon-Williams shared that he’s moving to the hybrid “dog” position in that defense, and DE Price Yates said it was fun for him to learn the new scheme.

“It's an aggressive, penetrating, confusing defense for an offense,” Mora said. “It's not something that people see every week. So, it's not easy to prepare for on a weekend…we're going to be able to create some problems that we probably couldn't create with the way we were playing defense in the past.”<-

I would hate to have to tackle these days .. way too many restrictions. Can’t go high, can’t put your head anywhere near a player, backs allowed to put their head down and go down hill but you can’t and have go to their feet instead, no launching… modified flag football.

Not to mention the restrictions on practice contact.
