I did not see this coming. I wonder how long before Bill bans Bob from talking to the media, Diaco press conferences are the opposite of Belichick-ian.
Maybe that's why they want Diaco. It's college football and they worry Belichick will bore everyone to death.

Diaco was a disaster here, but he still is very good defensive coach. I'm over his tenure and want nothing but success for him. I think this is a break he needs to get back on track to be a HC again.

Diaco was a disaster here …
…and Nebraska and Purdue, and only landed an analyst role, not an actual coaching position, with LSU after being jettisoned with most of LA Tech’s staff.

Belichick must see positives, bought Disco’s BS, or some hybrid.

I have nothing against Diaco either. I have moved on from that dark period. But there are many good coordinators out there who were never meant to be or succeeded as Head Coaches. Much different skillset.

And he never threw UConn under the bus. He's always said his record was on him, that the school gave him what he needed.
He seems like a genuine guy. We got on his case because he was in over his head as HC and said crazy things some becoming reality like football on Nickelodeon. I wish nothing but success for him except against UConn.

Knew Bob a little bit when he was here. Absolutely a fine person. Great LB at Iowa, if there was a guy created to play for Hayden Fry, Bob Diaco was him. Total Boy Scout, with a LB'ers mean steak. Wind him up and watch him go. Always fun to follow his exploits, seems like never a dull moment with Bob.

Not necessarily the same experience I had with him. Good luck to him as everyone has moved on from those days.

The guy gave a large chunk of money to UConn athletics, iirc somewhere in the neighborhood of 200k to baseball I think. I always think of that when people get onto him. He flamed out, sure, but his heart was in the right place.

Guess I'm gonna go buy some cranberry pants.
