So Nova-Creighton basically did the same as Marquette-UConn and tOSU-Maryland on the same network, same day. I find that a little odd, a little heartening.

ESPN kind of screwed B12 by tipping off 30m after B10 title game started. I feel like we could've gotten a lot more eyeballs if we delayed tip an hour or more.

ESPN want these games back to back. That's what they do with Sundays during basketball season. They don't care about going up against the BIG10.

However, slotting the B12 game between the ACC and SEC games would have made more sense. Would have been interesting to see the SEC Championship numbers if that game tipped off at 5 pm.

How the B1G game do? Anyone know?

These numbers are really encouraging to see, especially with the fact it's happening across different networks.

The real deal...CBS vs ESPN. The free eyes vs paying eyes. CBS had a built-in advantage with having it on free television. That only got them 100k more viewers.
Give ‘em time. They’re learning . Let’s see if we can get 2 million working together this Fall - for each game.

Not sure the JuJu numbers are encouraging. USC v UCLA on CBS drew the same audience for the Big Ten Championship that USC versus Stanford drew last year for the PAC-12 Championship on ESPN. After season long JuJu hype, and with UCLA the opponent for round 3, I would have expected more than 1.44 million.

Some were predicting a drop off with Clark going onto the WNBA even with Juju still playing. Seeing 1M+ continue and the tournament has yet to happen is encouraging to me.

Last year was unusual, and a drop off was to be expected, but I thought the combined star power of USC, with JuJu and Kiki, and UCLA, with Betts and Rice, would minimize the magnitude of the drop off. I didn’t expect USC-UCLA to draw less than half what Iowa-Nebraska drew in the same game last year on the same network.

It's hard to gauge what would considered fair for a drop considering the phenomenon of Clark. Seeing 1.4M when this game wasn't drawing 1 million people 2 to 3 years ago seems like a good thing to me.

So what you're saying is it would be in the best interests of WCBB for Stanford to return to playing in conference championships ASAP, right? :D

3/6 Iowa-Michigan St. 265,000 BTN
3/7 Iowa-Ohio St. 535,000 BTN

Only BTN rankings I could find for Big Ten Tournament. Friday Iowa-OSU game is down 505,000 from 1,040,000 from Friday Iowa-PSU game last year on BTN.

By this time last year BTN had press release re tournament ratings. No press release this year = much lower ratings.

Somewhat interesting article re TV ratings this season. Article talks about Fox ratings being down, but would be nice to know details. Seems like Fox has failed to post ratings for many games this year. Big Ten Network also keeping a lot of viewership info close to the vest this season. Will be interesting to see UCLAs and USC’s early round viewership numbers.

BIG Tournament Semifinals

3/8/25 Ohio State-UCLA BTN 212,000
3/8/25 Michigan-USC BTN 173,000
(per RebKell’s Junkie Boards)

Don’t know if BTN is struggling to gain viewers on the west coast, but the BIG semifinal TV ratings were sharply down from both semifinals last year, and also down from the ‘23 semifinals.

3/9/24 Maryland-Nebraska BTN 357,000
3/9/24 Michigan-Iowa BTN 1,075,000

3/4/23 Iowa-Maryland BTN 380,000
3/4/23 Ohio State-Indiana BTN 222,000
