FYI:

Tomorrow morning on ESPN+ is the FA Community Shield.

Wednesday afternoon on Paramount+ is the UEFA Super Cup. A chance Mbappe makes his Madrid debut…

Two games into the Serie A season, and already AC Milan have set a timing of mid September on whether to fire their new head coach Paulo Fonseca. Jeez, what a disaster. I was hoping for a strong start so the Milan could catch Inter Milan and get that second star (20 domestic titles).

Four games into the new season, and the coach for AS Roma gets canned (he's had a poor run from the end of last season too). Still early in the season, but you don't expect a big team like Roma to be in 16th place.

In other news, one of Italy's (and mine for what it's worth as he's a fellow southerner) heroes from the 1990 World Cup, Salvatore ‘Totò’ Schillaci, has died at age 59 from colon cancer. I remember watching that '90 World Cup, replete with my Ciao regalia and cheering Totò on with the family as we watched the games. Shame they could win it on home soil, but I'll remember how awesome he made that tournament.

Hey Gunner supporters! Did you see that Bournemouth result? Dare we hope that the bubble has burst?

We're not doing much to take advantage if it has.

McKennie, back from injury, just had a beauty of a goal in a Champions League match between Juventus and Manchester City. He was given a great cross by Weah, Juve now up 2-0.

FWIW, I think I like the new Champions League format. It's produced more good games then before. I don't think watered-down has been a problem. Only a couple of teams have been non-competitive and some of the lower teams have surprised.

Yea, I kind of like it too. It will be interesting next week when they all play at the same time, see how everyone ends up. You'll have some trying to stay in top 8, some trying to get into top 8. Some trying to get into top 24 and some trying to stay in top 24. Only a handful that game 8 won't really matter for.
