Men 2023 UConn Baseball schedule

A slight change to the UConn baseball schedule. UConn is still going to play at in California the second weekend of the season. However, the UConn athletics website now shows the Feb. 24 Friday night game will be against Cal Poly. The rest of the weekend still has 2 games scheduled against the University of California. The game against Cal Poly will apparently also be at Berkeley.

Cal Poly, the latest addition to the UConn baseball schedule, finished in second place in the Big West Conference last season, and ended up with an RPI of 99.

Both the UConn and Ohio State athletic websites still show the Monday game being played in Port Charlotte.

The D1Baseball Top 100 programs that is referenced above is a ranking that D1Baseball.com does every 2 years. This last ranking was done last fall after the 2022 college baseball season. Strictly speaking, it is not a top 100 ranking for the current season like the polls that are done every week of the season. Rather, this poll takes into account how teams have done over the last 10 seasons or so. So teams that do well year in and year out do well in this Top 100 ranking. Whatever the case, it does show that UConn has a number of games scheduled against teams that have been doing well over the years in college baseball.

Ah, UConn baseball will soon be back on the road again, no doubt leaving tomorrow for Florida for their weekend series against Ohio State. By the way, the above story points out that former Husky pitcher Jordan Tabakman is now the pitching coach at FAU, a team UConn will play in a weekend series in early March.

Tomorrow’s home opener w/ Hartford moved to March 29th…

During the FAU game broadcasts, Chris Jones had mentioned the possibility of this week's Hartford game getting postponed due to cold weather. The high temperature in Storrs tomorrow is supposed to be around 36 degrees.

During the broadcast of the weekend games at FAU, Chris Jones said that the team would be flying out to Hawaii on Wednesday. Coach Penders mentioned in one of the post game interviews that it would be an 11 hour flight.

Nice to see that threesome all signed in cursive, even if the middle one is tough to read (Kirby?). A lot of schools in Maine aren't teaching it anymore. Kids get to high school and a percentage can't read it, let alone write it.

For the record, I never could write cursive very well although I was taught cursive in elementary school up to 6th grade. It's even worse now after having a few wrist bones fused together.

Even in schools when kids are asked to sign posters and boards- I’m talking about kids in 2023 senior class they all print their name not sign it..

Chris Jones mentioned this during the Northeastern game yesterday. The weather forecast for Sunday is possibly calling for heavy rain, so UConn may end having to schedule another doubleheader against a Big East foe, this time Georgetown. That would be the third Big East weekend doubleheader in a row for the Huskies. Getting a bit tired of that, but I'm sure UConn is as well.

Brown current RPI = 271

That puts UConn now at a 56 game regular season schedule. They were able to originally schedule over 56 games due to their 4 game trip to Hawaii.

Just hoping the weather cooperates next weekend and that UConn won't have to play another weekend doubleheader at Villanova.
