In fairness, I haven't seen a single person call this season a failure. Apologies if I missed the odd one or two. But it's not mutually inconsistent to believe that the season was a success and that we need to get considerably better at QB.

I may not follow football as closely as basketball but I do pay attention. We won 6 games this year with a Freshman backup that became QB1 due to injury. He was missing key offensive players all year and we still won 6 games. Many people are ready to toss the entire QB roster for what could be behind door #1and I don't get it. Yes, I see a need to improve at QB but also believe our staff is capable of making current players better. How many people wrote off Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville before his improvement this season? I'm not saying we don't take a QB in portal if he can help, I just think we will improve even if we don't. Isn't Ta'Quan Roberson expected to be healthy next season?

We also have a true freshman coming in. I certainly don’t expect him to start next year but it gives us added depth at the position. To me the true freshman excuse goes away after game 6 or 7. I mean he played virtually every play, had #1 reps and attention in practice. By game 13 you can’t be making the same mistakes you made in game 2 and the staff can’t discard large chunks of the playbook. Yet here we are. This was a fun season. Far better than anyone expected. But it needs to continue going forward and to do that the quarterback position needs to be significantly better.

Would I rather have a quarterback who threw for more yards and touchdowns, while having the same amount of turnovers like EJ did, yes, all day.
 
I think it’ll be Zion, unless they get someone unexpected. He’s not giving the job back to Roberson at this point, and Lewis would have to dominate practice.

I expect Roberson to take the job away from Zion if they are the top two guys. Either way, I’m really hoping to get another QB that is ready to play. Not getting Drew Pyne was a disappointment.

Personally I don't think that Zion did enough to win the starting job, even though his receivers simply refused to get any separation down the field outside of Marion when he was healthy. I expect the competition to be open come spring practice. Brendon Lewis potentially on his way throws a spanner into the works because he has real P5 starting experience. Can't imagine all three of Zion, Roberson and Lewis would be on the roster to start the season.

I am not sure you are serious?

Do you think Turner played well enough that the starting QB job is his to lose?

I really hope that isn't true. Roberson and/or a transfer are at least on a level playing field with Zion.

Thanks for telling us before he committed to ASU. Saying you knew all along after the fact is lame. There was chatter online he may want to come here. No one was saying he wouldn’t consider UConn. He didn’t end up at a powerhouse program, so it’s not like it was that big a long shot.

I think there are things you can reasonably expect to fix with experience and repetition and things you can't. The things ZT needs to fix are not things that many QB improve over time. Ask the NY Jets. He just doesn't have the instincts to play at this level. Yesterday should have made that very clear. There is just too much ground to cover. Millen? what are you people thinking? Unless the kid gets a new bionic arm, he can't be expected to throw. TR?, go watch his last PSU appearance and tell me that's the guy you are pinning your hopes on after knee surgery.

Any of these guys could make a huge improvement just like one of us might win the Mega Millions tonight. The odds are pretty freaking long. It's the off season, this roster needs to be upgraded and QB is the #1 priority. Bring in 3 new guys and may the best man win the job. Hearing these excuses is giving me Diaco flashbacks.

I know that, the conversation is about a college freshman QB. Let the comparison be about freshman Zion and freshman Trevor or Tua. That was my point. Sorry you missed it.
 
I love the way this staff was able to use the transfer portal last year and trust if they decide to bring in 5 new QBs, I’m on board.

Unlike others here, I am not sold Tyler P never takes another snap as QB at UConn. Not only did he need to recover from his injury, as a running QB he needs to regain his game shape to be effective. Through 3 starts last year Tyler P showed me at least as much potential as Zion Turner did, despite what their respective records were.

If the staff ends up over-recruiting both and neither take a snap, I won’t complain either.

So....we have heard about a sfrong possibility of the Colorado QB transferring here...are there any other legitimate options? Or...is it the Colorado kid or nothing?

He will. Along with everyone else. Regardless of who starts, the production needs to be better from the position. That is all anyone is really saying.

The case could be made that aside from TE, the QB spot was the weakest part of the offense.
