2023 Recruiting Thread

We got another one and and an added bit which makes it a more interesting
And a DB signal from Hillard has come too. I wouldn’t be surprised if the West Virginia DB has committed based of social media as Hillard has been liking his tweets and even one recently as the kid said he would commit soon

Don’t want to stir the pot… but does this actually have legs?!?!

Don’t want to stir the pot… but does this actually have legs?!?!

I have seen people on twitter saying that it was based off the fact he announced only offers to UMASS and Akron so far and not insight to his recruitment. He did do an eyeball tweet recently but he could go to a school that he didn’t announce an offer from like the fact that Spears never announced an offer before committing

Sounds like the official visit went well from UConn’s perspective:

Kid has no real meaningful college stats. He looks the part of a LB and I personally give a lot of points for being an Ivy grad. Kind of a reach here though, no?

Maybe… He’s a Grad Transfer w/ one year eligibility remaining and had more tackles in 2022 than any returning LB not named Mitchell. Always need depth. Not a lot of risk in my mind.

He also had a ST analyst tagged in his tweet

He had stats in 2022:

10 games. 44 tackles. 2 TFL. 0.5 sacks.

There is another twist to the transfer portal. I think the current rule states that if you pick up a kid in the portal, you are committing to him until he gets a degree or uses up his eligibility. Thus, grabbing a kid who has a degree and one year of eligibility is an easy grab.

They have it on 247 as well. BTW, WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE THEIR RAN KINGS ARE! UMass is ranked 108 with 6 signees and 2 transfers. They only have us with 11 signees and no transfers, but are Top 2 are better then anyone they signed. But due to their incompetence they don't bother listing our other 4 commits and transfer, let alone ranking half our recruits. Rivals and On3 have no problem doing it. For comparison On3 has us at 96 and UMass at 121.

Eriq Gilyard is a 5-11 230lb LB from Jacksonville Florida>UCF>Kansas.

Lost 5 LBs to graduation this year: Bembry, Bouyer-Randle, Bryant, Swenson, and Webb. I would think they are looking to bring in 2 or 3 more transfers.
No argument, but since we have underecruited the position and we do have a short term need, I’d prefer we not use a full scholly on this position on anything less than P5 talent. We will see plenty of adds after bowl season and more after spring.

I believe Webb has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Might be a good basher who can compliment Jackson Mitchell!
