Seems almost too soon to pivot, but it starts tomorrow...

Who you got?

I'm pulling for Rory to complete the grand slam. But I don't know how you bet against Scheffler the way he has been playing.

My source says Min Woo Lee. Who I thought was the name of the masseuse Robert Kraft got caught with.

I like Homa for a top 10, and winner coming out of Scheff/Rahm/Finau/ Spieth. A wet affair with still fast greens would push it towards Rahm/Finau for me.

Wet and cold. Rory has a reputation of being a murder.

I'm a card guy and don't touch sports. Love Rahm here though as a sideliner.

I have rahm in my 1 and done. Like cam young here too. Soft conditions favor the bombers

No back to back so no Scheff. No LIV golfers. Winner will be Rahm, Rory, Xander, Finau, Homa or Hovland.

I really hope they have to play saturday in the forecasted spring new england weather …. makes me think of the good ole days of playing the Yale Spring Invitational in 40 degrees with rain and sleet and walking 27 at Yale.

JT may be injured I heard somewhere. Lots of places like Spieth & DJ as top 10

Caddied at Yale for years, carrying two bags was always more fun in the Spring and Fall when Mother Nature was having a bad hair day.

As long as no one from LIV wins I’m good. Hope they all choke on pimento sandwiches.
While the "rivalry" between the PGA and LIV will be the main storyline, I'm more interested in the actual results. Since the inception of the LIV tour, my gut feeling has always been that the top players on LIV will not be in tournament shape for any of the Majors where they're allowed to compete. I just don't think that the schedule, competition, and course selection is conducive to pre-Major preparation.

For those keeping track, here are the 18 LIV guys in Augusta:

.-.
The Irish Optometrist Amateur (Matthew McLean) off to a -1 start. He might just win the whole thing! (in before he shoots at 42 on the back).

Speaking of amateurs, watch Gordon Sargent. The pros are talking this kid up big time. Rory said 'best amateur he's ever seen.'

The Yard says....

Bryson Dechambeau
Cam Young2
Dustin Johnson
Finau
Justin Thomas2
Min Woo Lee
Rahm3
Rory2
Scheffler3
Spieth

Not looking good for PGA with McIlroy missing cut and Koepka with a 2 stroke lead.

Final pairing for today is interesting with Koepka repping LIV, Rahm repping PGA, and Bennett, an amateur who has the game to win this thing.

I'm not a fan of Saudi Arabia but I wouldn't mind seeing a LIV guy win. Just for the chaos of it. Plus I'm a fan of Bubba Watson and Dusitn Gretzky.
That would be great for golf if a LIV guy won.
I’m not a fan of monopoly’s like the PGA who screws the talent snd do everything in their power to eliminate competition and cry like they are some kind of victim typical of everyone ever challenged.
The PGA ‘s behavior in this has been childishly embarrassing.
The AFL improved the moribund NFL
The ABA did the same for the NBA
Hopefully what product we end up with in golf will also be improved.

How has the PGA “screwed” the talent?? These guys make obscene amounts of money and live like kings on tour. LIV is a joke with a completely unsustainable business model.

I don’t understand this line of logic. The entire “business model” of LIV centered around completely choking out the PGA and replacing it as the tour for the premier players/relegating the PGA to feeder tour status. There’s literally no other way the economics remotely make sense. I can at least understand people whose view is that the LIV entertainment value is better (I wildly disagree after watching a few events but that’s just preference), but saying I want this other wannabe monopoly to succeed because I don’t like that we currently have a monopoly is silly to me.

I am happy that those guys got to play. I don't think it would have been right to disqualify people from a tournament they earned the right to play in.

That being said - they deserve what they get. They all signed agreements with the PGA tour. They all broke them. And took a pile of money. So they can't cry "damages" - how are you damaged when you got more money than you were making before? Pretty sure Lebron can't take $200M to go play hoops in Europe either without losing his NBA contract.

It is a bunch of rich people fighting with another bunch of rich people over contract law.

As to the WGR - not sure how to compare different formats, but they should probably figure this out over time.
