Now I’ll be awake till 3 after this finish. See you tomorrow night!

Not ideal needing to use Willis there but they'll have everyone but Coe available out of the bullpen tomorrow still. Needed to win that 1st game

Couple of thoughts:
1) Stanford hit 8 home runs and lost.
2) momentum in baseball is only as good as your starting pitcher
3) we have our ace going tomorrow. The way Petersen battles, I think he comes up big.

Gotta limit the longball tomorrow that’s for sure but I couldn’t be happier, great win for the guys.

The first inning of game 2 will be important as heck. AP must take control and neutralize some of the Stanford momentum. If our bats do some damage, that will help. I am beginning to conclude we can hit against any top level pitching, but our pitching against top level hitting seems inconsistent. Still, this was the overall 2 seed, so you take the win and grin.

Game Notes:
  • Eight of the nine Huskies recorded an extra-base hit en route to a season-high 10 exta base hits.
  • The Huskies moved to 7-2 against Power 5 conference schools this season.
  • Pat Gallagher recorded his 11th win of the season, tying Matt Barnes (2011) and Austin Peterson (2022) for second most in a single season (Colin McLaughlin, 12, 1979).
  • Erik Stock registered a pair of hits on Saturday to move to 96 hits on the season. He sits alone in second with most hits in a UConn single season (Mike Nemeth, 98, 2010).

I tip my hat to everyone who stayed up and watched the whole game.

I was doing touch and go's and nodding off by third inning and completely asleep by the fourth. Woke up on coach around 1am central time.

Checked box score this morning and obviously "whoa" was an understated reaction.

Great win and ace on the mound today.

13-12 UConn will be like the Clemson sweet 16 game in 1990. I was there, have the ticket stub and pictures to prove it. At least 50k fans claim to have been @ Brendan Byrne that night. Who, besides a dedicated few (including me), really stayed up to watch all 9 innings last night? :p
