I know we're all focused on this season, but found something interesting in yesterday's broadcast. They were showing Steve Lappas sitting in on a coaches meeting, and on the wall you can see what appears to be (part of) our out of conference schedule for next season.

Here's a breakdown, based on what I can decipher.

1 & 2) Legends Classic at Barclays Center - We knew we were in this, but don't know who we are playing yet, but we will get two games against Notre Dame, USC, and Vanderbilt. Based on the calendar, these games will take place on Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th.
3) at Florida - Again, knew we would be playing a return game at Florida next season. If I'm reading the calendar correctly, looks like that game is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 6th.
4) Never Forget Tribute Classic - This has not been announced yet, but we played in it against Florida State last year. Opponent not known. Looks like this will take place on Saturday, December 12th.
5) Empty
6 & 7) Can't decipher this one. Legends Classic usually features two "regional" home games for the bigger schools against smaller schools, so maybe this?
8) Coppin State. Can't figure out a date.
9) Looks like Morgan State? No apparent date for this one either.
10) CCSU. Can't find a date.
11) This one's hard to read, looks like it starts with an M. Maybe Maine again?

Some dates that are written on but I can't figure out the team names (EDIT: I messed some of these up): Saturday, November 14th. Wednesday, November 18th. Circles on Wednesday, December 2nd and Wednesday, December 9th too.

Anything else people can get from this?

Maybe that's slots 6 and 7? It says something specific but I can't make it out.

I think you had it right. This year Green Bay, McNeese State, CSUN, and Colgate were non tournament games as part of the Legends Classic, unless that is being account for in the other games cited above. Then those two slots would be the B10 & B12 challenges.

There's also slot #5 which is completely empty if that is the case. Not sure how many teams are involved in each challenge but you'd have to figure we would be involved in at least one of them, right?

6 and 7 look like they say HOME MTE (multi team event) - so I'm assuming those are the non-bracketed games from the Legends Classic.

Good catch, thought it said MTE but had no idea what that stood for.

Every year so far in the Gavitt Games they have had 8 games (8 teams a conference) despite 10 teams in the Big East and 14 in the Big Ten.

So assuming that is a constant that's 8 of 11 teams next year for the Big Ten Challenge.

All 10 teams in the Big East participated in the Big 12 challenge this year so I would agree that is probably earmarked for 1 of the 2.

So it seems like there is one opening on the schedule. Hopefully that is a challenge game.

So we have 11 non-conference slots for next year. We now know we have the following:

1-2. 2 Legends Games
3-4. 2 Home games as part of Legends Classic
5. @ Florida
6. Maine (can clearly see this on @gampelcrazies photo).
7. Coppin State
8. Morgan State
9. CCSU
10. Never Forget Classic in Newark (team TBD)
11. Gavitt Games/Big 12 Challenge

I asked my source today, and it sounds like Uconn has requested to be only in one of the challenges next year. My guess is they will be in the Big East/Big 12 Challenge. They are pushing it to be a home game fwiw.

Going forward they will be in both challenges most years. But they had scheduled the Florida series before joining the Big East. Not sure when they signed up for Never Forget Classic. But Hurley didn't want to play the two Legends games, @ Florida, Never Forget Classic and 2 potential challenge games before 20 Big East Games.

I said this in the summer but we are going from having to schedule tough OOC games in the American to having to really take our foot of the petal in the Big East with challenge games and MTEs.

At any rate, again no favorable filter for the home town fans. It really doesn’t seem like UConn cares. No effort for a good OOC home slate, rather the bigger concern is the record in year 3 of a rebuild. I would rather watch them lose to WSU in double OT than best Morgan State, etc. This is after we received the CRDA XL survey dreaming of all kinds of premium seating to watch the Wolfpack and Coppin State.

The difference next year is that home town fans now have 10 quality/relevant Big East teams vs 3 quality/relevant AAC schools.

A man named Jim Calhoun did the exact same thing and it worked out OK, I think. There are things to get on Hurley about and this ain't it. They have home games next year v. Villanova, Xavier, St. John's, Seton Hall, Marquette, Georgetown, Providence, and Butler that will be exciting, well attended, and against competitive teams. That's a tough enough slate already.

They have 10 Big East home games and are hoping to have a Big 12 team come in here for the challenge. Logistically they planned things out thinking they would be in the American this year, not the Big East.

I know above all else they need to show an improved record in rebuild year 3 - so I get it. I am not looking at it from a coach’s perspective - just as a fan who wants to eyeball good teams at home after spending considerable money on seat donations.

Having 10 Big East teams @ home is going to be like pornography compared to the AAC days.

St Johns, Providence, creighton, Xavier, DePaul in Gampel.

Seton hall, Nova, Gtown, Butler, Marquette at HCC.

A few Saturday afternoon games sprinkled in there. I am all tingly down below.

IDK - I travel a lot on business and the areas that are growing are in the AAC footprint. Eventually that is going to factor into things verses the areas people are leaving in droves.
