Such a solid add by RE 2.0 and company! The kid has character and leadership qualities in addition to his talent! It does sound like he's leaving himself an out, but I'm thinking that's just in case the staff and DJ can't use his commitment as a springboard to luring some additional high quality recruits... which I think they will!

I love that he's already thinking of himself as a key player in the revival of UConn football! Guys who look at the history of a program, from the perspective of the future, and see themselves as instrumental in it's transformation, are usually program changers! That's exciting! Welcome aboard DJ! ;)

The more talented the commit the more the risk... not a dang thing you can do about it as a staff other than to continue to show the love.
Absolutely Medic. I’m sure they will experience angst for the next year but all they can do is continue to demonstrate the commitment to getting the program back to respectability. What won’t change is his opportunity to play early and like he said, shock the world. Hopefully he sticks with that mindset.

Currently the #77 recruiting class in the country off of 1 guy...247 isn't counting both commits right now. I like this current snapshot in time.

RE 2.0 can only go up from here!

And our second recruit (not sure what he'll be rated out of JUCO) was a very highly rated 3 star in HS. If he stays similarly rated, our class will be off to an awesome start.

We are now ranked 58th on rivals thanks to Harris and Smith.

And no need to tell me about how it has limited relevance or point out again that Farrell is a crook.

Can we not be Rutgers?

What was/is Dillon Harris' rating?
just under 1500

Like that he is trying to recruit other players. Let’s get some momentum going on the recruiting trail. I think he has a better chance to keep his commitment if the staff can get some good prospects around him.

Double BINGO here on both points. Love the fact he liked his visit here, along with my welcome to Darrin I say "come again and bring a friend". :D
Not one to usually buy into video highlights as they are often just a player dominating against lesser talent. Having said that we're talking Texas here.

His lateral movement is money, his ability to not hang around waiting for a block / spotting daylight quickly the same. His ability to pancake a linebacker for a teammate is priceless.

You are right, better players don’t have anything to do with better football.

It’s the age old argument on here. You will never convince me that some fat slob looking at highlight tapes can accurately rank thousands of kids. It’s laugh out loud funny that these services people into subscriptions for this nonsense.

Look at their offer lists. Diaco was recruiting against FCS programs and low and behold we struggled to beat FCS programs.

Bro, you post the same comment about recruiting services every 4 months. I’m not going to bother responding with the same old explanation every time. Most of the boneyard is keenly aware of the all the dirty little realities of the recruiting service game in scoring kids. Flawed as it all maybe, it’s still okay to talk about these sites and the results. As a slob (but not fat) I watched a ton of tape the last three years and DJ stands out vs others. I didn’t need Mike Farrell to tell me that, but it’s still interesting to see what they score the kids anyway. It’s always taken with a grain of salt....never taken as fact or perfect science. Maybe we could help you by finding a way to put a post block when scout, rivals or 247 is mentioned in the post.

Yes I recall you gushing over Diaco recruits who clearly can’t play at this level for the past 3 years. So excuse me if I don’t take any of this seriously and occasionally pointout how silly this is.

Edsall v1 built a nice program recruiting lightly recruited athletes, liberal use of the red shirt and exceptional development especially with S&C. His teams were athletic and physical, if lacking in overall talent at the offensive skilled positions.

We competed at a very high level with that approach and never recruited well according to the recruiting sites. Yet, we competed for Big East championships and took on programs like S. Carolina and ND, to say nothing of making it to the Fiesta. We fed a steady stream into the NFL.

I don’t think the recruiting sites tell all that much about recruiting for a program like UCONN, or for about 80 to 100 other programs to some degree. I’m looking forward to putting athletic and competitive teams back on the field. If the recruiting sites rate high, that’s great, but I believe what I see on the field a hell of a lot more than what those sites tell me. Putting the pads on and banging at this level is a whole different ball game than HS ball or running throw and catch pass routes.

I will never understand the amount of committing and decommiting that happens in college football
