Notable holes ... Tight End or playmaker WR. Other than that, I think we would stay pat through camp. Would you take an outstanding talented Grad Transfer at this point>? Obviously. But, I would be reaching on the two positions. Take a 6-5 230 kid who played solid Basketball physically: I would. More ready to play WRs? yessss

We are looking at Diamond Harrell's Sophomore year tape at Los Angeles Valley (Junior) College. Without much info, that tells me that we probably have 2 years eligibility for him.

I'm guessing the other 2 commits for 2019 that happened over the last half a day are the Kicker Sean Young and a TE JUCO kid (Spencer Owens).. Just guessing.. the TE spot is more of an obvious need but the Kicker did post he received an offer from us over the last 24 plus hours... Nevertheless both obviously fill needs for us, so, if I'm right, good stuff...

I'm with KTuck, seems like the next two 2019 spots are with Sean Young and Spencer Owens. Not sure why we need the kicker.

I think the 25 man rule may cap us here with these last two. Very happy to be wrong about the 25 man rule however.

Absolutely. But I have penciled out the last three years and from what I can see, we can take just three right now; Diamond, pending commit #2 (kicker?) and pending commit #3 (TE?). I sure hope there is a way to back date us to get a fourth (DL or WR). One trick would be to see if we could get an NCAA exemption from this rule (creating another space) for the Michael Hinton situation.

We are a Program that’s had a Donald Thomas walk from the pickup basketball court to start OLine. A Marcus Easley show up with little noise and grow. In Connecticut ... in New England & Upstate ... the football & athletics are so less advanced structurally, it can still happen.

I’m not saying no other FBS has these stories. But you can understand why it happens here as you have the demographics but not the easy path.

Nice post - but its a non sequitur since we are talking about scholarships. WO success stories are posted on aisle 3.

Seriously though, its been a while since we have had a meaningful WO success story (ie actually make a substantive contribution as a starter). I still believe in them, just not enough to think any WO's can make the 2019 season better. Randy's future WO development success stories probably wont be written until 2020 and 2021.

If the Hinton situation has anything to do with us losing a spot, then that's just stupid.. He decided against us, which should not count against us....
