2019 MLB Draft: A look at Connecticut’s candidates

Mike Woodworth is not named in this story. I think because of his defensive versatility he is more likely to be drafted before Toppa, who is named as a draft candidate.

Disagree, no reason to peg him as under slot as a junior.

I can see it simply because how much higher could he expect to go next year. They could have also had an agreement with him to take him now but at a slightly lower rate. Hopefully he gets at or even above.

He's a RP and while technically he's a junior, there's a ceiling on how high he can go. I hope he gets as much as possible though

With Wallace and Prato being selected today, this is the first draft since 2011 that more than one UConn player have been taken in the top ten rounds of the same draft. In 2011, Springer and Barnes went in the first round, Ahmed in the second round. Great to see that happen today.

There is no "technically" being a junior. He will be at or near slot, Rockies have picked all college players thus far giving no reason for Rockies to push him way under slot to pay someone else.

The technically was in regards to him having less leverage than the typical junior. What's the alternative, go back and become one of the Mets $5K college senior picks?

11th round typically implies an overslot signing.

There is no slot per se for 11th round. There is a 125k bonus limit at that round before it starts counting against the pool.

11th round is really only an advantageous position for a HS Sr to have leverage. Not really sure data backs up your "typically" assertion in regard to college players.
