2019 CT High School Preseason/Season Rankings

No they're not. They are ranked #1 in the New Haven Register state poll but St Joe's is ranked #1 in the MaxPreps CT poll (decided by computer) Hand is ranked two. St Joe's also is ranked over Hand in the Class L CIAC playoff point standings because they have played a much tougher schedule and will be the #1 seed going into the playoffs. In any event both teams will meet in the playoffs to see who takes all the marbles. The only common opponent both teams have had is Notre Dame of West Haven. Hand beat them 49-14 and St Joe's beat them 42-7.
They both won the game by 35+ points it’s ridiculous to split hairs. Unfortunately we won’t have a state open championship. But if we did Hand would be the favorite.

Hand and St Joe's are playing in the state Class L playoffs, and Hand is not the favorite. St Joe's is seeded #1 while Hand is seeded #2. What's ridiculous is you stating that Hand is "clearly" the best team in the state, based on everything so far. It's not clear at all, what is clear is that both teams are very, very good and are fairly even. When they play the week after Thanksgiving it will be one of the top games in the state in years.

IMHO - a couple of points to make -

1. There is no "preseason." Teams scrimmage but it's basically a practice that tries to simulate game conditions. However coaches are not treating it like a game completely as they are trying to work on things within their own organization. It's not a game and shouldn't be viewed as such.
2. I also place zero stock in the MaxPreps computer poll. That "poll" has put in some wild headscratcher teams in the past. Fun to look at but that's it.
3. Hand and St. Joe's will indeed both be in the Class L playoffs but neither is a "favorite." They are seeded based on the CIAC points system which uses W-L record, school size and opponent W-L record to determine points. Based on the remaining schedule the seedings can easily move in either direction.

We will see and again the name calling shows your immaturity. The playoffs will tell us who is number 1 and not some tough guy online

All I said was "it's a crime that Sheehan is not in the top ten", and you attacked me with your "please stop with your nonsense" ........."your bias is showing big time". No one else attacked me like that only you did.

On my bias, you don't even know what your talking about, you don't have a clue. I was raised in Fairfield County, if I am biased it's for the FCIAC and SWC schools which have made the SCC and CCC look bad the last few years. That being said, when I see an SCC or CCC team like Sheehan getting short shrift in the State poll I'll say something. I would say Sheehan deserves a 9 or 10 ranking in the poll, and you attacked me for that. You deserved the name-calling.

And just for the record...........

It's a crime that Sheehan is not in the top 10, they might be better than Hand. Cheshire too, is much better than 10.

I said this, and then you attacked me with..........
Please stop with your nonsense. Hand and St. Joe's are the two best, but your bias is showing big time with this statement to say the least

Sheehan spit the bit:
North Haven Football @NHHSFootball 2m
North Haven takes down previously undefeated Sheehan on Senior Night, 28-14!
#thisisNHfootball #cthsfb

Meanwhile...
Xavier Athletics @athleticsXHS 8m
Final Score | Hand 46, Xavier 6
And Prep killed NDWH. What happened to West Haven? The dive that program has taken has really hurt the SCC. Lost to Hillhouse 14-12.

Sheehan will still make the playoffs. I'm wondering if both of their running backs played. I know they had some player issues last week. They are a Class S school.

I can't believe Southington at#7, they got killed by Darien. Ridgefield, Shelton, and New Canaan could beat anyone from 7 on down.

If you're making a case for Cheshire being really good. They are, but let's temper that with a close win over FCIAC bottom dweller Andrew Warde, and giving up 35 points in a loss to Hall. That being said, Shelton is a much better team now, than they were 4 weeks ago. I think Shelton would beat Cheshire now, and they might if they meet in the playoffs.

Cheshire is on a roll. Id take that bet.

Let's see how they do against Southington. If they beat Southington by more than two touchdowns, I'll listen. Darien beat Southington 24-8, and shut them out until the 4th quarter.

Moot point...

Moot point...

I wonder if they had injuries early in the season. Last three games they destroyed North Haven and Fairfield Prep, and had Hand beaten with seconds left, until a miracle helped Hand pull out a win.

I was shocked Cheshire didn't hand it off to McAlinden. I did like going for 2.
