2018 NCAA Baseball Tournament and CWS - Non-UConn Games

Mississippi States walks it off Washington w/ a hit over a shallow outfield w/ men on first and second w/ 1 out.

1-0 and into winners bracket.

OSU has been involved in some weird games in Omaha. First round against UNC had to be one of the longest 9 inning games ever, well over 4 hours. They topped that today by basically taking the entire day to get the game in with the long rain delay. They opened up a can of whoop-a** after the break. OSU fans have hated UW coach Meggs ever since they blame him for denying them a berth in the Regionals in 2016 despite finishing 3rd in the conference and having a 35-19 record. He was the lone representative from the Pac 12 on the West Regional Advisory Committee and they feel like he didn't go to bat for them, so to speak. Yes, pun intended.

UNC will now face Oregon State tomorrow night in an elimination game.

Another weird game for OSU. Jumped out early 3-0, then fell behind 6-3. Starting pitcher Heimlich was chased early for the second time during the CWS. Beavs erupt for a combined 8 runs in the 8th and 9th for an 11-6 win. Tar Heels eliminated, OSU now has to beat Mississippi St. twice to get to the Championship Series. I bet UNC is sick of getting beat by OSU in Omaha.

Oregon State cruised to a 12-2 victory today and forces another game against Mississippi St.

OSU can pound sand. Any team that embraces a guy like Heimlich doesn't deserve to advance in any way, shape, or form.

That dude has gotten crushed this CWS, thankfully. I always try to root for the little guy, but Heimlich makes it hard.

I do like OSU though.

I can understand OSU being distasteful to fans generally speaking. My parents went there, I've been following OSU athletics my whole lifetime, I'm not going to stop now because of 1 person. I'm not gonna go with the guilt by association approach, has absolutely nothing to do with every other player on the roster.

Anyway Heimlich has adamantly claimed innocence since day 1. He claims he agreed to a plea deal because he thought it was the best option for the whole family. You can either believe him or not.

5-2 Oregon St. wins. Made it WAY more interesting in the bottom of the 9th than it should've been. 2 outs nobody on, ahead in the count, then walks two straight batters, an RBI single and a hit batter (on an 0-2 pitch) loaded up the bases w/ the winning run at the plate. Retired him on a grounder to SS.

This game withstanding, OSU has been beating the crap out of SEC teams in the post season. Combined score of 17-4 in 2 wins against Mississippi St. and even worse, 26-1 in 2 games against LSU in the Regional. ESPN can't be happen about this, they were hoping for an all SEC Championship series.

The LSU drubbings were hilarious. Tigers fans were convinced OSU got a bad draw. Uhhh....no, you got a bad draw.

OSU got a nice dose of paybacks. Mississippi St. beat them twice and eliminated them from the CWS in 2013. Of course LSU beat them 2 straight coming out of the losers bracket last year. Not sure of their history w/ Arkansas.

Beavers w/ two out, two strike single to the this game in the ninth.
