As part of their college summer ball coverage, Prep Baseball Report and D1Baseball.com have been scouting players on teams in various summer leagues. They just produced a report on a number of players on the Bourne Braves. Of course, Bourne is a haven for UConn players in the Cape Cod League:

>>Anthony Prato, 2019, R/R, INF (UConn)
Throwback type of player with a lot of grit in his game. Average athlete at 5’10, 185 pounds. Prato shows quality defensive actions up the middle with average arm strength. Sure handed defender who handles all the routine plays with ease. Hits with a noticeable confidence at the plate. Displays an advanced approach with consistent contact skills. Hands stay inside of the ball and produce hard contact to all fields. Proven college hitter who should continue to produce at a high level this spring.<<

>>Jacob Wallace, 2019, RHP (UConn)
6’1, 180 pounds. Wallace dominated all summer out of the pen for Bourne and also had an impressive outing in the All-Star game. FB sat between 93-95 and peaked at 96. SL is plus at 82-84. Tunnels effectively with FB and features tight spin from his low ¾ slot. Not overly big or athletic, Wallace gets the most out of his frame with considerable strength in his core and lower half. Creates a high degree of hip to shoulder separation in the sequencing of his mechanics. He also stands out for his high spin rate, an attractive quality to MLB analytics departments. FB ranges from 2500-2600 rpm while the slider is even a little quicker at 2700.<<

D1Baseball is now coming out with position by position rankings for players in the Cape Cod League who will be eligible for the mlb draft in either 2019 or 2020. They just rated lefty pitchers, with Mason Feole coming in at No. 6.

>6. Mason Feole, 2019, (Connecticut)
Aggressive lefty with a high energy, herky-jerky delivery. Works hyper-quick and throws with plenty of effort. May need to slow his pace and take a couple of breaths between pitches. Showed very similar for CNT as he did this past spring in Week Two of the college season. Sat mostly 90-91 mph with his fastball, touching 92 a couple times in his three inning appearance. Flashed an above average curveball when he was able to stay on top and pull it down out front. Curveball ranged from 74-78 mph. Did not see a change-up on this day, but have seen a 82-85 mph fading CH in the past. Likely Day Two selection.<

And with the Cape Cod League righty pitchers, Jacob Wallace is rated at No. 15.

>15. Jacob Wallace, 2019 (Connecticut)

At six-foot-one, 180 pounds Wallace dominated all summer out of the pen for Bourne and also had an impressive outing in the Cape All-Star game. Fastball sat between 93-95 mph, peaked at 96. Slider showed plus at 82-84 mph. Tunnels effectively with FB and features tight spin from his low three-quarter slot. Not overly big or athletic, Wallace gets the most out of his frame with considerable strength in his core and lower half. Creates a high degree of hip to shoulder separation in the sequencing of his mechanics. He also stands out for his high spin rate, an attractive quality to MLB analytics departments. FB ranges from 2500-2600 rpm while the slider is even a little quicker at 2700. Finished the Cape season with a perfect 0.00 ERA, striking out 25 batters in 13.2 IP. Working exclusively out of the bullpen his entire college career, Wallace could be one of the first relievers selected during the 2019 draft.<

>>13. Mason Feole, LHP, Connecticut (Jr.)
After this spring becoming the first Husky to notch 120 strikeouts in a season since 1979, Feole was one of the most effective pitchers with the CNT, striking out nine batters in 11 innings and holding opponents to a .097 average. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound lefty throws with a funky, unorthodox delivery that translates to above-average deception, but can also hold him back in regards to repeating his delivery and arm slot consistently. This summer, Feole pitched in the 89-93 mph range with his fastball and complemented it with a mid-70s, 12-to-6 curveball that has the makings of a plus breaking ball but remains inconsistent, mostly thanks to his issues getting on top of the pitch consistently.

Without some combination of quieting his head whack, improving his walk rate and developing a consistent third pitch—he seldomly throws a changeup—Feole is destined for the bullpen at the next level, but his present two-pitch mix is intriguing.<<
