Sounded like a crock when I read it last week and moreso now.

That’s what I thought. They were weighing series from 2 months ago and ignoring they had won 4 straight series, in what they claim is the most competitive conference, as a reason to hold them out.

Also the “I grew up in cold weather areas” sob story was pretty telling that they didn’t have a reason to have them unranked

I particularly disliked the "we had to get USF in", then "we had to get Houston in". Obviously trying to limit the number of AAC teams in the rankings in other words.

When you read explanations like that, the rational thing to do is just not worry about the polls -- they're not worthy of angst, in any sport. Computer rankings matter and selection committees matter.
