2017 UConn Football Coaching Staff (official)

I'm thinking that Fishy needs to make this an "official hiring" thread and any other posts get you banned from the thread.

(Starting after this post) :)

Honestly you can't masks this crap up. The State crucified some guy for helping his kid get a job with some consultant who works for the state among others but the wife of the governors chief of staff lands a job with the state as a liaison with the governors office but that's ok. Edsall hires his kid and it's a for a job for which he is well qualified.

I agree with the late Richard J Daley of Chicago. If you don't think I'm going to do everything I can to help my kid you can kiss my as $.
I agree with your post, but there are laws against this stuff for a reason. Overall their good laws, but this is football. It goes on every where. Not a big deal.

Man I came on here to get as much info as possible on the staff and guessing who else will be on and the main subject is Randy's kid. Who cares we suck and Diaco is gone. We have an entire roster of TE its all Diaco wanted and long snappers. The tight ends haven't been used much and haven't been great. Corey can't do worse. The staff will be fine and the Huskies will rise again. May God have mercy on the souls of the opponents

UConn issued the following statement: "Corey Edsall reports to the Chief Operating Officer, Beth Goetz, who serves the role as sports administrator for football. At no time during Corey's employment at UConn will he report to Randy Edsall. All personnel decisions in regards to Corey Edsall including evaluation, compensation, promotion, demotion, and disciplinary action will be made by Beth as his director supervisor. Coach Randy Edsall will not have any input on his evaluation or contract terms."

None of this affects Corey Edsall's day-to-day role as a coach.

Not for nothing, but some (gulp) Top 500 guys are now showing up as having interest in UConn on recruiting sites. Of particular interest we actually made an offer to a 5-star OT who ended up going to Georgia but was getting recruited by all the big names, Alabama, etc. http://connecticut.247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Targets check out this page and then check out the sudden increased caliber of targets for 2018 and 2019 and who we are competing with for recruits. I guess we are done competing with Ball State, Dartmouth, and Villanova for recruits!

Imagine that...

>Fathers and sons being part of the same coaching staff is not uncommon in college football.

Shane Beamer spent five seasons as the special teams coordinator under Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech. Steve Spurrier Jr. spent 11 seasons under his father at South Carolina.

At Penn State, Jay Paterno worked for Joe Paterno and, at Arizona State, Bryce Erickson worked under Dennis Erickson. Lane Kiffin hired his father, Monte Kiffin, as defensive coordinator while coach at Southern Cal. And on Monday, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz named his son, Brian Ferentz, a Hawkeyes staff member since 2012, the team's offensive coordinator.>>

Onto the next round of hirings...

It's typical of CT. There's always someone on a high horse about something in this state.

So BTW, who really cares if Edsall's son is on the staff. Things are getting done - that's what we need! I'm excited to see who the OC and DC hires will be. Should be interesting.

very pleased to see Terry RIchardson and Jon come back to East Hartford.

Ryan Steinberg is in his eighth season with Maryland, including his fourth as the assistant director of football operations/recruiting. He spent the previous four seasons as the assistant recruiting coordinator.

Steinberg maintains the recruiting database, is in charge of mailings and has been the director of the Maryland football camp since 2011. He also organizes all on-campus recruiting visits and special events, as well as assisting in academic and compliance issues for prospective student-athletes.

He spent the 2007 season as an intern on the Maryland staff. Steinberg was also the assistant camp director in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Prior to becoming a full-time member of the staff, Steinberg spent five seasons as a student assistant in the Maryland football office.

He served as the Gridiron Technology specialist from January 2006 through May 2007, helping implement and maintain the state-of-the-art computer program which aids the coaches and players in simulating game action.

Steinberg also spent the 2002 through 2006 football seasons as a student equipment manager, including the final three as the head student manager.

He also worked at the Terrapin Technique School each summer as a student.

A native of North Potomac, Md., Steinberg graduated from Maryland in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in family studies. He also minored in sports commerce and culture and received his master's in management from the University of Maryland University College in May of 2011. He completed his M.B.A from UMUC in August of 2014 and was a member of the athletics department’s Emerging Leaders Program during the 2013-14 academic year.

Man, seems like the Terps really was Steinberg's dream job

Would be nice to have Shane Beamer come in and coach special teams for us, no? Teach us his father's old tricks that subsequently put VATech on the FBS map forever... just sayin... after 3 fruitless years of missing out that part of the game plan it'd be nice to finally wholeheartedly incorporate it into our system.

Why are we still taking about this? We got RE on at least a $1M per year discount and all he wanted was to bring in a low level assistant coach who happens to be his kid?

Get a life people.

Wasn't Edsall's Son getting a position at Uconn a stipulation of his contract? If it was, and they still hired him, why does anyone give a **** about this now? Its like signing a contract where you work Monday thru Thursday with every Friday off. Pretty ridiculous if anybody gets upset that you are on the golf course instead of at your desk on Friday Morning.

The tradition of fathers and sons working together in college football is so long and documented that this shouldn't even raise an eyebrow. The kid is a position coach with limited scope of responsibility, its not like he was brought in as a coordinator or something ridiculous. Odds are he'll work twice as hard to prove himself as his own man. That can only be a good thing for your team.

Would anyone have had a problem if it wasn't mentioned in the contract?
