What interesting about the coaching staff on D is obviously, 3 of those guys served as DC at the FCS level:

Wholley (DC at Fordham)
Crocker (DC at Nova)
Dottin-Carter (DC AND interim-HC at Deleware)

I wonder how the personalities/egos will click, but Edsall is bringing guys who can definitely coach albeit at the FCS level. Hope the experience translates well.

To me, it doesn't seem like Edsall wants to be as heavily involved (compared to Diaco) with the D because almost everyone he's hired on that side of the ball has had experience calling plays.

Randy Edsall completes UConn coaching staff

The potential addition of a 10th assistant coach in a few months could change things, but for now, here is the 2017 UConn staff:

Have to imagine Curome Cox will also be handling Special Teams as he did at Coastal Carolina.

Didn't think it deserved its own thread and off topic, but ....

Towson: Running backs coach Lyndon Johnson has been promoted to defensive coordinator. Johnson is entering his second season on staff and was previously the outside linebackers coach at Maryland for five years.

You gotta admit the Edsall coaching tree has a pretty remarkable track record.

Is the 10th assistant a definite? If so, would love to see Desi Cullen come in as the ST coach.

Not sure if he's interested in getting into coaching, but I know he is still involved in the kicking camps and is engaged in the game. He always bled UConn blue and always had a passion for football. He would be a great addition if he was interested.

The football staff hired a few more assistants:

Ben Abitz; Offensive Grad Assistant (formerly Co-OC at Methodist University)
Robert Austin Downes: Football Recruiting Assistant
David Harris: Football Recruiting Assistant

Yeah, but do our Grad Assistants eat cupcakes???

ODU Bio: Michael Zyskowski Biography

Recruiting areas while @ ODU
Primary: Washington, D.C., Maryland, Delaware, South Jersey, All Specialists (K/P/S)
Auxiliary:Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma
JUCO/Prep: Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma

Also: >>... working primarily in the Northeast, Zyskowksi proved to be one of ODU’s most effective recruiters. He was especially successful in New Jersey, luring nearly half a dozen Garden State players away from nearby Temple University, including running back Ray Lawry, the 2014 Conference USA Freshman of the Year.

Zyskowski also recruited wide receiver Marques Little and safety Justice Davila, who both started this past season as sophomores, as well as the two highest-rated members of the recruiting class ODU signed last week – wide receiver Noah Ellison and linebacker Lawrence Garner.<<

Happy to have another experienced, successful Coach on staff. Strengthening the recruiting apparatus is a must in today's environment. Have to be organized.

Dig a little deeper and you'll love the story of. GA Ben Abitz. Grew up in Coventry. Played ball at East Catholic and a D3 school in PA before starting his coaching career in North Carolina Best part of his story. He's one of the students the Boneyard sponsored to the Fiesta Bowl along with Mets and a few others. He bleeds blue and white having gone to all the games at the Rent and a few other bowl games as well.
