lol so the kid committed to Rutgers and then OV'd and saw what he was getting into and de-committed? That's hilarious

T-minus 2 hours until a Rutgers troll gets on here to lecture us about how they didn't really want him anyways

Everythings been quiet on that front...a little too quiet for my liking, but I'm really hoping we land him.
Seems like a strange situation. Miami commit/decommit, twitter pic of uconn in house visit, then rumored to be taking an official to illinois and bc.

He had/has a UConn offer and it was reported that he took an official visit to Temple after being committed to Rutgers, so I guess ya never know...

Reportedly flipped from Rutgers and committed to Temple over the weekend. Temple killing it in recruiting this year, flipped two of the best players from Rutgers class (Temple hired their recruiting coordinator after he was let go by RU).

Kyle Gauss‏@kylegauss
3-star WR Isaiah Wright has flipped from Rutgers to Temple, http://OwlScoop.com has learned. https://temple.n.rivals.com/news/wright-flips-from-rutgers-to-temple…

Yeah, who knows. Either way, we managed to retain all but one of our recruits and add a couple more along the way...a pretty good class overall. Would like one more OL, but such is life.

Could use an explanation of terminology and effect on recruit classes.

For example, say we have "x" scholarships available. We sign 3 PWO's. Does that me we still have "x" scholarships available, or "x-3"?

If a PWO is offered a scholarship next year or whenever, does his "eligibility to play" begin that year.......could he be redshirted the first year he receives a scholarship, and still have 4 years after that to play after the RS?

Finally, if a PWO is offered a scholarship one year after being a PWO, to what year does his scholarship count regarding "spaces available in the class" .....the year he becomes a PWO, or the year he gets his scholarship

FOund this

"Preferred walk-ons are in a better place to earn a scholarship but in football it normally does not happen until a player’s junior year. That’s because giving a walk-on a scholarship after his freshman year still uses one of the 25 initial scholarships for that year. A player has to be on the team for two full years before they can get a scholarship and not have it count like an incoming student."

I'm intrigued by the Mason Donaldson kid. Not to mention he has KO leg not seen too often in HS. Looks like one of those really well rounded athletic types.
Me too. Looks like a very good athlete, but intrigued with him as a kickoff specialist. He clearly has a big leg and we struggled kicking the ball out of the end zone. He could be a real weapon.

I don't believe eligibility is determined by scholarship status. Each player has 5 years to play 4 seasons. PWOs basically have the same rights and responsibilities as a scholarship player. They get the tutors, they have to maintain a certain GPA, and they have to perform to a certain level on the practice field. PWO theoretically have a better shot at seeing the game field than regular walk-ons because they were specifically targeted and didn't just show up at an open tryout. Earning a scholarship only means that the school picks up the tab and it maybe gives the player an initial benefit of the doubt (I.e. puts you toward the top of the depth chart on day 1), but I believe most coaches throw scholarship status out the window if a PWO or WO helps win games.

Why would an athlete choose a PWO at one school vs. a scholarship at another? Depends on the person. Location? Playing time? Exposure? Major field of study? Prestige? Legacy? Also, just because a PWO doesn't get a scholarship doesn't mean they don't get some sort of financial assistance.

You know this how?

Most of the "experts" don't know what the duckk they are talking about and internet trolls definitely don't.

I know UConn has plenty at receiver already, but Gene Coleman would be a pretty nice surprise tomorrow.

Shouldn't you be pumping up BC football and giving them higher ratings on their recruits.

Kameron Pickett to Buffalo.

Audie Omotosho either did or did not commit to UCLA today. But where there is smoke there is fire..
