Cespedes just started playing football jr year in HS ,might have to wait until his third year here. Peart made the 2 deep but was withheld.
Peart at least talk the prep route if I'm not mistaken. Isn't he from the one of the burroughs in NYC? So, he's basically a year ahead in terms of maturity.. Hopefully Cespedes can develop quickly, because, at the FBS level, when your fighting for a spot in a P5 conference, it's about winning. Don't think our coaches/recruiters can wait for a kid, especially at OL (our weakspot) to develop.. You over-recruit the position til you get it right. (FWIW I hope we did or are doing just that at QB for depth purposes there as well). Attrition will take care of the fallout....

He's from da Bronx but only started playing football when he went to Governor's Academy.

Exact honesty on our OL... Thanks for breaking it down... We can't continue to take the "upside" route at that position.. We can get a our offensive backfield hurt really bad behind that stuff.. and we almost did last game ( Arkeel Newsome got beat up by Cincy's D in the regular season game.. and look back to beginning of last season to CC.. career done)..

Seriously, that is NOT a position on the field we should take lightly any longer... Get some competent guys in there, JUCO level included...

You can, only, get the best kids that want to come here. We are not passing up 4 and 5 star kids, and taking kids with no offers because we think that is a winning strategy. We are still in the development stage of recruiting.

I think the OL has a chance to be decent next year. They were not good overall but are light years ahead of where they were last year. The ECU, Houston, and UCF games stand out. You always look better in wins.

Peart was rightfully withheld. He was nowhere near physically ready to play FBS football.
Agreed, putting him on the two-deep was a public pat on the back. Maybe he pushes Levy to play some next year, very least start blocking on specials.

I think P tried to get OL help. Last year's center was from PSU. Whitmer's buddy from JUCO was suppose to be a blocking TE but he didn't last long here. Came close to getting that 5th year from Maryland that went to Rutgers( or visa versa ) . He tried getting a JUCO OL from CA?

Anyone know if there were recruits at the b-ball game today? Watching UConn thrash OSU in any sport should be a huge momentum boost.

Frankly, Diaco has done a masterful job at keeping all elements of recruiting under wraps. I think anyone reading this wants more info; but, we have little clue what's happening.

Poaching is gonna happen. Nothing we can do about it, but poach ourselves while we potentially grt poached. With less than 2 months before signing day i expect our staff to get the kids we need to help us now and in the future. There some spots on the field thst we are clearly ata disadvantage. We got guys that can recruit and get kids to realize that they can potentially come in and make an impact on special teams or that they can come in provide immediate blocking help. I think it's gonna happen and help us take that next step with our program.

Sweet!!!

8 current commits and the tweet has 10 sets of paws. Looks like we could see two commits this morning!

One more mystery commit out there...who's it gonna be!?

^And there it is....

Two RB's in one day. Jakevious Vickers RB from Belle Glade , FL. 5'11 195 lbs fast (4.43 40 time on his hudl). He appears willing to lower his shoulder and deliver a punishing blow at the end of the run as well.

Add 2 more to the list...Mike Lonsdorf a 6'7" 274lb DT outa Summerville NJ. And another mystery commit...

Like @whaler11 says, Offers matter. Stars don't but offers do. This is the 1st staff that is winning these types of kids over in substantial numbers. Kudos to them.

So, with an influx of rbs, any speculation if any incumbents with eligibility left transfer out for playing time? It's happened to UCONN in the past.

I thought we needed two at minimum. Nxt year we have Arkeel, RonJon, and Mariner on scholarship. Any I'm missing? The is incredibly thin at RB for an FBS school. I would think you need 5 minimum.

Newsome gonna be a Junior
Johnson gonna be a Junior
Marriner gonna be a RS Junior

Never know but after that we have the kid Thompson from Shelton (RS So) and Taj Anthony Wilson (who'll be a Soph). Thinking this is building future depth.

I found this quote at the end of Des's article interesting...

" UConn had nine recruits visit over the weekend, and, who were in attendance at the Awards Show Friday night on campus.
Four were committed somewhere else, three were Power 5 conference commits."

Huh. I thought it was typical Des baloney confusing offers for commits...we shall see how this shakes out.
