Breaking ..things have broken down between UC and Fleck..next UC coach from OSU ..Coombs or Finkel
Well, the guy called/guessed Brohm as "done-ish" to Purdue before it was a done deal...
Anyone can leak a list of sexy names I guess. So they've gone from Brohm, Fleck and Strong to the DC or CB/ST coach from OSU if the guy is on track.

Scenario making rounds: #OSU's Fickell could become #UC head coach, with Coombs as defensive coordinator. Hmm.

#UC has met in last day or so with '2 OSU assistants,' a source says. Read into that what you will.

Another #UC source just called and firmley said Bohn was not in Columbus today, has not met with OSU assistants. Round and round we go.

USAT: Focus of coaching carousel lands on American Athletic Conference

>>With Oregon hiring Willie Taggart on Wednesday, all of the Power Five jobs are filled, meaning the carousel will be relatively calm this year barring a surprise departure. The focus now shifts to the American Athletic Conference, where there are suddenly vacancies at Cincinnati, Houston, Temple and South Florida.

The AAC has become college football’s prime launching pad league and a magnet for some of the top young coaching talent in the game. All four of those jobs are highly attractive opportunities, as coaches now see that winning in the AAC will lead to automatic interest from Power Five schools.<<

Cripes ... LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda signs pricey new deal

>>Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda has signed a new deal with LSU that will pay him between $1.8-$1.9 million per season, which is believed to be tops among coordinators in CFB....<<

LSU: Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda’s new three-year contract will pay him $1.8 million in 2017, with increases of $500,000 in the following two years. That's the highest salary for an assistant coach. His buyout is 40 percent of remaining salary if he leaves for a non-head coaching job within 500 miles of Baton Rouge and 15 percent if outside 500 miles. The buyout provision ends on Dec. 1, 2019.

UConn's whole Assistant Coach pool is thought to be around $1,9k

Just think though...by hiring Orgeron and paying Aranda $1.8 mill/yr they are still paying less than what Herman would have cost them. They may even be able to pay someone like Tiffin $1 mill/yr and still be in that same ballpark.

Kind of like I am fixing the wall sconce in my basement. I can't fix it myself, and I don't want to pay what it will cost someone else to come in and fix it, so I don't do anything about it.

Don't worry, it's an easy fix.

Man the more I think about it I feel so bad for USF, Taggart was a Tampa Native, all his twitter posts were about going to Rays and Bucs games with his kids. All that stuff. I honestly think he will have better success at USF. In Oregon he is going to have to win the Pac-12 North in less then 3 years with some very good teams....

Coaches just don't like to retire...do they? It's amazing these guys in their 60s are willing to move and start over again with a new team....and a lesser team. He just keeps moving down the coaching ladder.

It's been going on for a long time too. Lou Saban spent 6 years at a SUNY school in the late '90s. He was over 70 at the time.

This made me laugh... Source: Temple has talked with former Texas coach Charlie Strong

>>Charlie Strong, the recently fired University of Texas head coach, has talked to Temple about its head coaching vacancy, according to a source familiar with the situation. The source couldn't gauge the interest of Strong, but said there was a discussion. "They had a conversation with Strong, that is a fact," the source said.>>

Even at a lower FBS, it's still a lot of money to leave on the table. I assume he'd make >500k at FAU. A few years there and you've further padded your retirement and set up your kids/grandkids. Tough to turn that down.

USF Pursues Charlie Strong To Replace Willie Taggart

>>Sports Talk Florida sources confirmed Strong could be named the new USF coach by the end of the day Friday.

There is no white smoke coming out of the Lee Roy Selmon Athletics Center, but the two sides are talking. No word as of yet coming from USF athletic Director Mark Harlan.

The 56 year old Strong brings USF stability to the program. According to sources close to Strong tells Sports Talk Florida that he wants a school where he can be for the rest of his career.<<

Bob Diaco is better. He can recruit, he solves problems and he manages games very well
