I found his comment on Paul Pierce funny. Apparently you become humorless once you reach his age. I'm a willing listener if he ever wants to try some of his jokes out.

4. MARYLAND TERRAPINS • 2014-15 Record: 28-7

Melo Trimble and Jake Layman both postponed entry into the NBA Draft to return to school, which gives Maryland two experienced and great pieces. Add to that a couple of McDonald's All-Americans in Rasheed Sulaimon and Diamond Stone, and Georgia Tech transfer Robert Carter, and it's easy to see why the Terrapins are just about everybody's pick to win the Big Ten.

10. GONZAGA BULLDOGS • 2014-15 Record: 35-3

The Zags must replace a backcourt of Kevin Pangos, Gary Bell and Byron Wesley, which isn't ideal. But they're so good up front with Kyle Wiltjer, Domantas Sabonis and Przemek Karnowski that another 30-win season seems likely, and Mark Few's first Final Four is a possibility.

16. UCONN HUSKIES • 2014-15 Record: 20-15

The addition of Seton Hall transfer Sterling Gibbs should ease the loss of Ryan Boatright. And every other player who averaged at least 4.0 points per game is back -- including Amida Brimah, who doubles as the nation's leading returning shot-blocker and reigning AAC Defensive Player of the Year. Simply put, UConn shouldn't miss the NCAA Tournament this season like it did last season.

24. SMU MUSTANGS • 2014-15 Record: 27-7

The Mustangs won't play in the NCAA Tournament regardless of how many games they win because of a postseason ban for NCAA violations. Still, they're one of the country's best teams on paper thanks to Nic Moore and Markus Kennedy. That inside-outside duo combined to average 26.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists last season. The only question is whether SMU's diminished goals will result in a lack of enthusiasm for a season headed nowhere.

25. CINCINNATI BEARCATS • 2014-15 Record: 23-11

All but one player from a 23-win team is back -- as is head coach Mick Cronin, who missed most of last season for medical reasons. Consequently, it's reasonable to assume the Bearcats will be really good defensively again. And they could challenge for an AAC title if they improve offensively considering Cincinnati has won 42 straight games when scoring at least 60 points.

I'd call it karma for the Cincinnati poster that was trolling us throughout the season - think the handle was payday or something similar.

That dude was annoying. He was even embarrassing another semi regular Cincy fan (kobe).

Turgeon thinks Damonte Dodd can be the Defensive Player of the Year. As in, the NCAA's Defensive Player of the Year.

Rodney Purvis may be one of my favorite UConn players of all time. I think he's primed for a HUGE year, but his love for UConn and his kindness to fans will always remain legacy in Storrs. His loyalty, leadership and ambassadorship to UConn should make him captain this year. I'd love for him, Brimah and Omar to be this year's captains. Good mix of senior, on court, and classroom leadership.

The AAC looks pretty grim after the top 4.

Depends on the coaching. Memphis and Houston have a lot of talent. Temple has two key returning seniors.

I see this year's conference as being much deeper than prior years. The league has 3 teams now at the bottom of the barrel (USF, UCF and Tulane), one team that is on the verge of surprising and moving to the middle (ECU), three teams with plenty of talent (two of them have good coaches) but are in "prove it mode" in Temple, Memphis, and Houston.

SMU, Tulsa and Cincinnati brought back most of the key parts from last year.

This seems to be the AAC's best season so far.

Other than the one team that's banned from the postseason, but yeah this year other than that does look promising for the AAC.

Some notable OOC Games:

Temple v. UNC
Memphis v. Oklahoma
Tulsa v. Wichita St.
Temple v. Minnesota
USF v. George Washington
SMU v. Stanford
East Carolina v. California
Temple at Puerto Rico Tourney
East Carolina v. San Diego State
UConn v. Michigan
UConn v. Syracuse
USF v. Kentucky
Cincy v. Nebraska
Memphis v. Ohio State
UConn at Bahamas
Cincy v. Tennessee
Cincy v. Butler
SMU v. TCU
Tulsa v. Oklahoma St.
USF v. South Carolina
Tulane v. Georgia Tech
Temple v. Wisconsin
UCF v. UMass
Houston v. Rhode Island
SMU v. Michigan
UConn v. Maryland
UConn v. Ohio State
Cincy v. Xavier
USF v. NC State
Temple v. St. Joseph's
Houston v. LSU
Tulane v. North Carolina
Memphis v. Ole Miss
Tulane v. Mississippi St.
Cincy v. VCU
Tulsa v. Oregon St.
Cincy v. Iowa State
USF v. Seton Hall
SMU v. Penn State/Colorado
UCF v. George Washington
UConn v. Texas
Memphis v. South Carolina
Temple v. Lasalle
UConn v. Georgetown
SMU v. Gonzaga
Temple v. Villanova

Looking at this, Temple should be applauded for making a big effort to up SOS, and any wins over Temple should help their opponents considerably.

In fact, 4 of the top 5 teams have tough schedules, with Tulsa being the only one to drop the ball, with games against Oklahoma St. and Wichita St. only. Next comes Cincy with games against Iowa St., VCU, Butler, Tennessee. Next comes SMU (about even with Cincy) with games against Gonzaga, Stanford, Michigan and one of Colorado/PSU. Then there's a wide gap up to Temple, with a very touch schedule, very close to UConn which should have the toughest SOS.

Of the other teams, USF and Memphis have made the strongest efforts.

Ray Smith for Arizona tore his ACL in practice the other day, and this is after reports were coming out that he looked like Zona's best player after sitting out his senior year of HS while recovering from an ACL tear in the other knee. Maybe its just because I pay way more attention to basketball now than I did when I was younger, but it seems like there are alot more ACL injuries with basketball players than there were say 15-20 years ago.

Kids are playing a hell of a lot more games from a much younger age, so it wouldn't be a surprise. Especially with year round AAU schedules. No rest combined with a lot of pounding.

Hopefully Brown can keep that team motivated to win outside of the conference and hopefully that team does not dominate the AAC! Even with the ban a very good SMU can help the conference.

A theory I've heard is more in the gym hooping , less outdoor hoop for the youngsters . Less vitamin d weaker bones... Honestly 10 years ago you didn't see nearly this many "lanky skinny" prospects ( guess like terrence fergerson and even ray smith). the park is where you earned stripes when I was younger , now it's getting in the travel circuit/ aau team .

You think if his conditioning is up by our game, that you'll see miller at the 5 a lot to tire him out and bring him away from the basket?

Everything I've read about Maryland this fall leads me to believe that there is a good chance Diamond Stone probably won't start for MD. Might not really be too big of a concern.
