...he is probably the second option to Josh Perkins.
I'd guess he's actually fourth or fifth option. Perkins, McLaughlin, Joseph are the clear top 3, and there are others that KO is after as well.

I really like Perkins, but I hope McLaughlin stays around if we miss out on Perkins.

At the risk of many, many around here calling me an idiot, I'm still hoping we sign Joseph over all. Not as much flash, but he's supposed to be steady as hell, a great defender, and (this matters to me) he's local.

If we get two New England kids (Joseph and Abu), a Connecticut kid (Chukwu), a 5-star (Hamilton) and then one sleeper from wherever, I will be pumped. I want us to own this region.

Abu is looking like a pipedream, which is sad because I want him to be a Husky. Chukwu we need to sign. I like Joseph as well, but I feel like we take a shot at Perkins/McLaughlin before we go at Joseph hard. He's real good though. Hearing we are keeping Carrington on the back burner though.

I've been told that if we miss out on Perkins McLaughlin will most likely become the staffs top target. Expect a visit from him regardless of him being the top priority or not because he's using his officials for the east coast schools on his list.

True, poor choice of words on my part. Basically meant that Perkins is the obvious front runner for PG, and that Tejada is another player to keep an eye on during July. Did not intend to mean he was the clear cut second choice for PG.

I think we are still serious in the running with abu

We have been involved in so many over the years and have followed so many - you never know. We had kids everything but signed, sealed and delivered going back to Tony Scott only to have it change in a minute........lots of hope here as Husky fans in every position so the feeling is real good knowing (or assuming lol) they will end up with solid players no matter how the tables turn over the summer!

So right u r mau.The up's and down's of recruiting and all the twist and turns will drive u crazy , but it really is fun if u don't get your hopes up to high and let the chips fall where they may. Over the years we have done ok. Lost some but the ones we got usually worked out better than the ones we lost. This is why I try to keep an even keel thru the process and don't get my hope's up to much.

I think it all stems from a recent interview where he ran down his list of schools. He had nice things to say about the other schools, but when asked about Uconn he just said something like "I keep going back and forth with them. They really want to know where they stand."

I'll say this about Uconn recruiting - it seems to be much, much more under the radar than a lot of other schools. That could be a function of how the staff operates or it could be a function of how the beat writers cover recruiting (probably the latter). But off the top of my head:
  • DeAndre Daniels' commitment completely came out of nowhere.
  • We knew Calhoun liked Uconn, but not necessarily more than Pittsburgh and some other schools when he committed.
  • We had no idea Facey was close to deciding, or that he would decide on Uconn during his visit.
  • We had no idea that Hamilton was getting the full court press until about 2 weeks before he committed. Even then, it was surprising to see Ollie wrap that up so quickly.
By "we" I mean those of us who read everything on the internet but have absolutely no inside information. But usually there is a ton of writing on the wall in the weeks or months prior to a kid committing. Brandone Francis to Florida is a good example. But Daniel Hamilton to Uconn? Everyone assumed he wasn't going any further east than UTEP.

I think most knew Calhoun was close to committing to us. Along with Facey. Daniels had a crazy recruitment, and Hamilton was a bit of a surprise.

Scout article on Kaleb Joseph where he says that Providence, UConn, Syracuse, Minnesota and Marquette will definitely get visits. Totally different player, but we are on the topic of 2014 PGs and KJ was brought up in this discussion.

Saw that as well. Very good news. He isn't even our top priority right now and he still wants to visit. Also, the article didn't specify unofficial or official visit but he's already visited unofficially at least once so this could mean it will be an official.
