Didn't see Syracuse on that list at all.

Given the on-the-field product, you'd have to imagine that has to show something in terms of potential viewship if they were to improve.

The top 13 are all SEC, B1G, and ND (#9).
UConn ahead of Cal, UMd, UVa, WF, Utah, ISU, Rutgers (#76), and Kansas.

List only includes schools with at least 4 rated games, and some with fewer rated games benefit if they played big time opponents (ie Northwestern only had 5 rated games but was against the likes of OSU, UM, MSU....). We had 4 games rated, so just made the cutoff to be considered.

Highest rated non-P5 school is UCF at 40 (Louisville next at 47).

UCF played Penn State and in some game in Glendale, AZ.

Yup. UCF benefitted playing PSU, USCe, and Baylor, no doubt, along with a big Friday night tilt at Louisville. Not sure who the other 2 that counted for them were.

We were helped in a HUGE way w/ our Michigan game, no doubt. And I'm guessing our other 3 games that counted were UMd, UL, and I'd guess either either Cinci, RU or UCF.

The raw data is available on Sportsmediawatch - the Michigan game helped a lot, as you mentioned.

BC at 38 seems to go against some of the prevailing wisdom that they do not have any TV draw. Same # of rated games as Uconn. Their TV schedule this year did include USC, FSU and Clemson, so that probably helped (all 3 rated in top 30 on that list).

Boston College isn't a TV draw unless you graduated from there.

What does that make the Uconn football TV draw? Same thing I would surmise, and probably even smaller since so many older Uconn alums really care only about BB. It is funny that any data that shows up that clashes with the prevailing wisdom of this board is always easily dismissed.

UConn's not a huge draw - but it's the university of something. That alone gives them upside.

Boston College is tofu. You better mix them with something good or not a soul will care.

2 of our games were on espnu, which probably over half the homes in the country don't carry. What channel were the BC games on? Probably ABC and espn or espn2, due to the opponents (ND was also on their schedule). Apples to oranges.

This is correct. Any BC fan who poo-poos our numbers because of the Michigan effect has to take a look in the mirror and recognize who else was on the field during their national TV games.

Of course, BC fans spend all day looking in the mirror and imagining how great they are, so this won't be a problem.

ND was not on their schedule. Here are the BC games -
0.8 1.09M Wake Forest 8 pm ESPN2
1.9 2.92M FSU 3:30 pm ABC/ESPN
2.4 3.46M Clemson 3:30 pm ABC/ESPN
2.3 3.52M Virginia Tech Noon ABC/ESPN

Their bowl game did 1.4 2.05m with a noon start on 12/31.

Like I posted, each school had 4 rated games. The opponent and outlets make a big difference. There always is an excuse or reason why it is easy to dismiss anything that suggests something other than the prevailing wisdom of the board. I happen to believe that BC gets better numbers than this board believes because there is evidence like this summary that suggest it happens.

The other thing that should be concerning to this board are the Cinci and RU numbers (even the 0.7 Lville game on ESPN2 is not that strong). The Cinci number says that the only viewers of that game were posters on this board. I think it illustrates how shallow the fan base is and how the draw of Uconn FB to other conferences based on TV sets/demographics is not anything that gets other conferences attention. Yeah, potential and upside are good sound bites, but reality is not so great.

UConn finished above 4 ACC schools in viewership. As low as some of our games may have been, SU didn't even make the list (and they played the likes of FSU, Clemson, PSU, amongst others). Just mind boggling we are still in this f'ng purgatory bordering on hell while others found landing spots.
