Pretty much. I thought maybe Goodlett might slip in over R. Williams... but I definitely cant argue with R Williams being on the first team.

It would be interesting to see all of the major conference first teams.. and see how people think they would fare against each other. The ACC may or may not have the best first team... but hands down I think we have the most exciting first team. I absolutely love watching the Miami Duo... and you already know that Thomas is a beast of a player.

yep. i'm with you on Alyssa Thomas. i wonder if some coaches just missed her (who else recruited her?) - she wasn't very highly rated when she committed (#27 in Oct 2008) and i wonder if she sort of "blew up" after giving her verbal to Maryland. I know she also considered ND in her final choices, but not sure who else. it seems like the Freeze has had Muffett's number for kids they both go after - Thomas from 2010 and Malina Howard from 2012.

I think Thomas was always highly regarded - IIRC, she ended up at No. 7 on Hoopgurlz final list (and that was before they started ranking underclassmen). I could be wrong though.

I am also saddened that Kizer hasn't made the progress many thought she would. Not sure if it's her or Maryland. Anyone know the inside scoop on Kizer?

I remember Thomas's HG rankings, not the low one. She is aggressive and talented. She may be the best soph in the nation. She certainly is close .

Hawkins is a surprise. I think she was ranked about 80, but she is a stud inside.

The Terps also had 2 Honorable Mention players.

I predicted that E. Williams would be a first teamer.

To me, Riquna Williams shoots too low a percentage, but she is dynamic and explosive.

Triad--Who were the pre-season picks and who is POY?

Kizer got honorable mention. I do know she was suspended at the start of the year for a number of games. When she returned, she came off the bench... and did that the entire season. Not sure if the ACC has a six man award.. if they do... she's the sure fire winner. Kizer is a good player... doesnt quite snag the number of rebounds that a player of her size and ability should.... but she is a good offensive player... even can shoot the three a little.

If I remember correctly, I think Hawkins only had two scholarship offers.... Maryland and Delaware State. I remember her as a freshman, and she was a decent role player off the bench. She's put in hard work on her body... dropped alot of lb's... and yes.. she is force inside.

Looked it up.. preseason picks were R. Williams and Shenise Johnson, Kizer, Thomas, and Cierra Brevard from FSU. I think they announce POY tomorrow.

Well Kizer did win 6th man of the year... they announced it today. She averaged 11.6 points and 5.8 rebounds a game.

To no one's surprise, Elizabeth Williams was named Rookie of the Year today. Guess if you win the Rookie of the Week award a record tying 9 times.... its an easy choice. :D

I have to give Milford credit... I was looking through some old threads yesterday, and he said that EW would be one of the best players in the conference this year... and he was correct.

Thanks. Both seem like good selections. Both are underclassmen. Yikes!

So Alyssa may be Elizabeth's prime compeition for ACC POY the next two seasons.

Agree Eric in regards to Liz and Duke! When I think that with both the Big O of Stanford and Elizabeth of Duke we had visits with both right before they made their "official/public announcements:( It would have been great to have gotten one or both! I think in both cases the academic level of the schools was a huge factor. I knew the Os and Elizabeth were going to be elite immediately upon there entering college.

If yall would have gotten the younger O sister AND EW....... I probably would have had to give up watching women's college basketball. That would have been simply unfair.
