Depends on your expectations. I think we should have at least 3 more wins.
If your expectations were a NCAA bid, you are probably really happy.
If you think we have 2 NBA players and watched us abuse several Top 10 teams you are probably disappointed we are on the bubble for a Top 4 seed and in a fight for 5th place in the BE.

A top 4 seed is good. It means you’re one of the top 15-20 teams in the entire country

It's about what I expected preseason. I thought we would be better than the unranked team tabbed for 4th in the Big East. We overperformed pre-Big East and underperformed in the Big East.
The 2011 team had a similar pattern of performance, so it doesn't mean they won't be on top of their game in March. But the 2011 team, even when it was going through a 4-7 stretch in the Big East, you could see was working on and fixing the things they would need to win in March. This year, progress seems much slower. I hate to sound like a Negative Nancy but the team is playing OK but needs to get better still ...

Newton is a problem. The team isn’t great but they are very good and can play with anyone. Some people will never be pleased

It’s miles ahead of where they were a few years back, but will it translate into postseason wins?
There are some valid reasons to be hopeful and skeptical at the same time. The barometer should be whether or not they perform up to their seeding, not how many wins they’ve racked up by mid-February.

One of their best players is out, they go 0 for 86 in a stretch there in the second half and it was still close up to have to foul time. I’m not dancing in the streets over this one.

Is this your first time watching a Big East game this year? Here’s a new flash for you: every time Seton Hall, Providence or St. John’s step on the floor the game doesn’t resemble what I would consider to be basketball. All 3 of those teams play an ugly, ugly physical game. That ain’t gonna fly in the NCAA tournament, the same way it didn’t work for those teams in their out of conference schedules.
We were waiting until 10 seconds to start the offense and then running pick and pops. But Seton Hall was playing for the drives and leaving the pop open, but then Sanogo was refusing to shoot for some reason. We should have switched it up and run something else after the 2nd time, but at least we used all the clock.

Because his pick and pop option is something we can get late shot clock and is one of our best options. He hesitated and double clutched shots he should have just released.
When you're up 14 with 3 minutes left and the ball and have a 99.8% win expectancy, you really don't want to shoot or turn it over quick. If you use all 30 seconds, the most potential possessions your opponent can have is 5 (assuming they only take 10 seconds for each possession). Even if they score 2 points on each possession and you score literally 0 on your 5, you still win by 4. We used a bunch of clock but otherwise the offense and defense were both putrid, and we were still up 6 with the ball with under a minute to go, which was still a 98% chance to win.
Now obviously I just criticized the play calling above. You can do better than we did, obviously. Much better. Taking actual shot clock violations is bad. You need to at least get shops up so you have a chance of actually making a shot or getting an oreb and burning another 30 seconds (which is better than making a 2 at that point).

Marquette turned us over 16 times in the first game and 17 in the second.
In the game we won, we made 12-23 threes. In the game we lost, we made 6-22.
If we play them again, and they turn us over 16-17 as per usual, how confident are you that we’re gonna overcome it by shooting 55% from three?
If you are an opposing coach with a pinch of talent and a half a brain and you look down the court and see Dan Hurley in March, you are NOT nervous. That’s what I have learned.

Cool story. If they shot their season average from 3 they still would have won.
If they shot their season average from 3 at Marquette they would have won.

There's a likely middle ground where we shoot closer to our average. We won the one game by 15, lost the other by 6. 21 point differential, 18 explained by the 3's. We make 8 at our average, we win a single possession close one, especially at MSG.
As a fan base in a year we’ve literally gone from complaining we can’t make a 3 to we make too many. Can’t make it up.

We probably won't shoot that well again, true but we lead pretty much the whole game by 20. If we only shot 30% from 3 I'm confident we still would've won.

But missed threes tend to turn into transition opportunities for the defense.
In the first game, we made three of our first four threes and went up by 11. We missed 15 of the next 18 and were outscore by 17 or 18 the rest of the way.
Long story made short - turnovers are very expensive and are very hard to overcome without something extraordinary like shooting 55+ from three.
In our losses, our turnover rate is over 20%. Between one in four and one in five of our possessions end in us giving the ball away. I think that is a problem. Some of these other folks are mad at me for it.

I always thought under 10 turn overs meant team played well, 15 or more was usually a loss.
Today we had 18 turnovers but overcame it by crushing them on the boards. So it’s hard to say turnovers will always determine the outcome.
To me, the most important number on the stat sheet is field goal attempts. Today, SH had 53 FGAs to UConns 52. Basically a wash.

Excellent demonstration of foot-speed defense, but with what possible positive purpose in mind? Or isn't cheering hard in favor of this team even on the menu?
3 additional wins doesn't sound wrong, but your opposing, "If..." scenarios are stacked in favor of bad energy building around the team you favor.
Every single game is a must win, for either favorable seeding and a tournament championship. The time to stop scoring points against this team has past, unless you're clearly claiming, "I'm out" for 2022-23.
If that's the case for you (or anyone else), then my not just say so?
