Once again, this guy can’t tell us exactly what is happening on this ice. He is a terrible anouncer.

PP hasn’t looked worse all year. Wow.

.-.
Worst effort of the year...inexplicable.

Old UConn used to be streaky good and bad. Hope this isn’t the start of streaky bad. No oomph tonight.

Definitely dropping out of the top 20.

PC is very hot right now...bad time to be playing them.

.-.
The unhappy recap...the stats are as ugly as the game was.

Maybe it's a coincidence but ever since we got that number next to our name, we've lost some focus and tenacity.

And I don't mean tenacity like throwing the body around, I mean tenacity as in winning more grind plays, working through bodies, plays along the board, etc. Especially tonight.

I realize this is a small sample size (2 recent televised games), but our opponents seem to have more skill players. We're big and we hit, but the playmaking ability isn't there. We also seem to make more turnovers. Again, small sample size.

You’re right, it’s a small sample size

I don’t think that has anything to do with it...we lost to UML in OT and just played poorly today. It just so happens that PC is playing really well right now...and they are ranked higher than us. Everyone in the top tier of HE is capable of winning on any given night.

Focus in our own end is a problem absolutely these last 2 games. Could be just a coincidence that it's happened since we've been ranked who knows. But it's been a major issue.

It’s a coincidence. Players play...sometime they don’t play well. No one on this team ever underestimates a Hockey East opponent or thinks a number next to the teams name really means they are that good.

I agree, they’ve gotten loose w/ the puck. It’s almost like the Merrimack games (not necessarily the resulting ranking) gave them a false sense of security/superiority.

Tonight will hopefully knock them back on edge.

Two things need to happen tomorrow.
No dumb mistakes in our end.
Firstov-Kondalik-Evans line needs to come out strong and make their presence known early.

Again...I don’t agree. This is a tough league...it’s easy to be outplayed by someone and the difference in talent is not great from team to team in the top tier of the league. PC is playing its best hockey of the year right now and UML has always given us fits. There is no reason to think the boys are reading their own clippings...it’s just Hockey East...it‘s bruising, tough hockey and sometimes, someone just plays better than you. Frustrating as it may be, the reasons for a loss are usually as simple to find as the other team just played better.

Firstov and Turnbull both didn’t play late...hopefully they aren’t hurt.

Sorry. I just hated pulling the goalie on the power play with like 6 mins left. Why make a bad game even worse? You had a power play anyway. If you make it 3-1 you can than pull the goalie but the insult to injury was so so obvious. Didn't like it at all.

Well we got out answer if this program could handle being ranked. They couldn't.

And I think Hockey East is full of it. I think our schedule has been deliberately hard and difficult. No Maine (who can't play home games), no UVM, no BU coming off a long shutdown. Loading up on BC and UMass to try to put us on in a hole. And getting a Providence series at the worst time. Screw them.
