On Saturday the warden and I were at an antique shop and I came across a framed 8x10 of this pic with an Ownw Canfield article taped to the back of it. The guy running the booth was the photographer who took the pic in the field house in the fall of 1989. We reminisced about all these guys and what they accomplished that year and what they meant to the program. Smitty, who stayed home. Lyman, the toughest kid Calhoun ever coached. Tate, Murray, Sellers, Cyrulik, Pikiell, Gwinny. He said Freshman we’re not yet on campus so no Walker, Nadav or Burrell. Marc Suhr is also missing. We were both getting excited like little kids. It was a great trip down memory lane. The 8x10 wasn’t for sale but I bought a 4x6 copy of it.

The ‘Dream Season’ - it lit up the state like no other season up till that time. If you worked in Connecticut Corporate America everyone was talking about them day after a game even folks who were not fans.

Probably one of the loudest if not the loudest games I was ever at when Georgetown came into Civic Center with Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo (RIP) and #1 in the polls on the line only to get beat by UConn.

Personally, the Dream Season and the 2024 championship season are my 2 favorite UConn years.

Ah well. No time like the present...

TURN IT UP!!!!

The editing is incredible:

1. The singer screaming with a clip of John Gwynn screaming.
2. "They really know how to jam!!" At the word "jam" there is a well-timed dunk.

Thank you for posting this - this brings back such good memories and just how special The Dream Season was. That season was as good as it gets. Yeah we’ve won 6 championships but there is only one Dream Season.

Obligatory plug for the Dream Season pod. Absolutely incredible trip down memory lane and superbly done btw. The live audio from games (including Gtown!) will get your heart racing.

Did UConn produce this? If not, who did?

I remember that first year at Gampel the massive sheets of ice falling off the outside of the golfball roof and nearly decapitating some of us sleeping out waiting for good seats. This is before the limited overhang at the entrance was installed, which is missing in this cover shot if you notice
